    5-mm spacers opinion

    Hey folks,
Does anyone has any information on the 5-mm spacers.. is it worth it? Is the difference obvious? would it change the look of the car? would it give it a clear more aggressive look? would I go for it? any disadvantage ...? I would appreciate any comment / advice on that issue! Thanks in advance !

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I had the 5mm spacers on my c4 996; it's just a question of looks, it helps just a bit, but to really see the difference u need thicker ones (1-2cm) cheers

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

its funny that there is consistently a new post about the 5mm spacers and clear bras.
I think the reason is that there are mixed feelings/opinions about both.
I went with the 7mm H&R's, I think if you could get custom sizes then 7 front and 12 rear would be optimal. I think its more for looks even though porsche doesnt advertise their 5mm that way. If you can afford it go for custom wheel sizes instead. you can search here for pics but I will post a pic of my 7mm all around so you can see, I also have slight drop with techart springs

Is it worth it in my opinion. No.

No. Not obvious. Immensly difficult to spot!

No. Car would look pretty much identical.

Having seen pics on here and other places I would say that you alone would be the only one who would notice. 5mm is such a small difference as to be hardly noticeable.

Also, they are an aesthetic add-on and I doubt have any benefit to the car whatsoever. (Porsche doesnt mention a benefit in the Tequipment book).

If buying them makes you feel happy then do it. But no-one will notice. And even you will struggle to notice if the difference is noticeable.

If tomorrow RC moved that Rennteam.com logo 2cm to the left. How many would notice. Probably none of us.

    Cheers

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

Thanks for your reply. Some technical told me that if I install the spacers, at a certain speed, I would feel some kind of vibration... Are you facing that problem since you have even wider spacer..?

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

porsche would not sell the part if you are going to feel vibration.
I have heard of aftermarket non-hubcentric spacers causing problems but the porsche 5mm ones are used on gt cars and can be ordered on your 997 so there should not be any issues besides possibly not noticing any difference...

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

DOES THIS NICE REAR WING GOES UP AND DOWN?????????????

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

No, it is fixed, I dont think it would look too nice if it went up/down. if you are interesed I have another 1 for sale, awesome fitment.
    pm me

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I bought the spacers, but car has not arrived yet. I regret buying them for Pounds250 becuase I have seen them in porsche magazine, for Pounds40 each, for whatever space you want 4mm-15mm. I would have prefered to go for something like 7mm front and 12mm back as previously said...

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I have them on my Boxster S with 996 GT3 MK1 rims, and the spacers do make a difference in looks, not much. You can't say "this car has spacers", but if parked next to another one, you will say "this car looks better"..still without immediately noticing why....
    My $0.02.

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I THINK they cannot be noticed

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I got them install! If someone looks at the car they will not say: what beautiful spacers you got installed! They would say: Hummm Your car looks..... NICE! Nicer than the one I saw yesterday... That's good enough for me! Actually this is what I was looking for!

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

George did you put the 5mm spacers all around?

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I'm having 5mm spacers fitted all round on my new C4S with Sport Design wheels.

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

DELLBOX I THINK IN THE 4 MODELS you can fit 17mm at the rear
For usre if you got the carrera sport wheels, cont know with the sport design.....
    cheers..

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

I believe u can only use the 17mm spacers with 18" wheels and winter tyres. I'm happy with the look given by 5mm spacers all round with 19" wheels.

    Re: 5-mm spacers opinion

Dilinger, in my knowlegde, 17mm for the back wheels (Part no. 000 044 500 10) can be installed for c4 models. Mine is a c2, I have installed 5mm all around (I have the SportDesign wheels). I think that c4 models have other part number of wheels, therefor other ET (offset wheels).. That's why you have to get 17 for the rear wheels and 5 or 7 mm for the front ones (you can get the pair them from H&R). I hope that my answer will help! Cheers
