A good friend of mine will be one of the first customers for a 997TT when he picks his up in July, so I'll find out then. But I'm prepared to bet that the 997TT is 'a lot' faster than the 996TT. If you remember when the 993TT became 996TT tests at the time found that the 996 was actually a little slower than 993. Since then it's been improved with the X50 kit and other enhancements. With the 997's VTG I expect that the breadth of the torque curve will be considerably more than in the 996. As you know, it's not the peak power that determines acceleration, but the area under the torque curve (torque x revs).
Also since Porsche are quoting 8.7 seconds for the 997 GT3 (0-100mph), the Turbo is bound to be a good bit quicker than that (perhaps 8 seconds?). Surely that's mighty fast in anyone's books?
