    Newbie finalising C4S spec

Hello all... firstly my thanks to all who make this an informative forum.

I've been shuttling between the UK and Tennessee for the past year and have decided to plant some firmer roots in TN by treating myself to a C4S... I know, any excuse

Am new to Porsche's but as most of you, have dreamed of them ever since I was a kid. So pardon me if my questions have been asked before or are somewhat dumb.

I am in the throws of finalising my C4S spec and would like to know if there are any significant options I should add/delete:

    Seal Grey Metallic - Y1
    Black Sport Seats - AP
    Rear wiper - 425
Sport Chrono Package Plus - 640
    Sport shifter - XCZ
19" Carrera Sport Wheel - XRR
Wheel Caps with Colored Crest - 446
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) - 482
    Sports Seats - P77
    Heated Seats - 342
    Three-Spoke Multi-function Steering Wheel - 431
    Extended Navigation Module - 672
Bose High End Sound Package - 680
Sports Exhaust - (cannnot find on configurator)

I have yet to decide which dealer to go with but I also need advice from members on which dealer/s are good and <whisper> may offer discounts (how much %).

    Any input much appreciated.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

That's almost my specs, so you can't be wrong.

Have you thought about the adaptive seats? I have them and even though I haven't had much seattime yet, I wouldn't want to miss them.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Matt, I have to admit that the spec and pictures of your beautiful C2S inspired me and had a lot to do with me being comfortable with my selection.

Anyone else with opinions about the adaptive seats?

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

That is almost exactly the car I have on order. Nice choices.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

    Haku,
    nice specs
    congrats on the pending purchase.
I had a "seat" in all of the seating options before I ordered. I found the sport seats "tight", I'm 6" and my nickname is brick I found the standard seats most comfortable. Also, the rear wiper... takes away from the smooth curves and doesn't add much. My winters are cold, snowy and wet and I haven't missed it.
    Congrat's once again

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Leather interior although expensive is a must.

Also auto-dimming mirrors and rain sensor wipers.

    On the edge, park assist.

    Great car!

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

    Haku,

Sounds great! Have you considered the Cocoa interior?

    GA,

Awesome, beautiful shot of your baby! The wheels look great( my choice), do you have spacers on them?

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Thanks to all for your responses... very helpful and nice to know I have'nt missed out on too many important bits.

SVNSVN, ahhh the cocoa interior was a consideration and very tempting too... I'm sure the seal grey and cocoa combo is stunning.... ok something to think about.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Here is a pic of someone helped me out with for the exterior. This is what sold me.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

If you spend a lot of time in the car as you shuttle back and forth, I'd go for the 666 phone option. Works very well as a hands-free device, quite convenient.

My take on adaptives: I'm really the only one who drives the car, so I think the power seats aren't really worth it unless you need adjustable lumbar support.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

    SVNSVN,
    thanks,
no spacers... yet. I'm thinking of getting some in the spring, 5mm in the front and I can't decide on the size for the back, any ideas

ps: may your wait be quick

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

tkids, yum yum... the colour and wheels do look stunning! Thats a def.

Anyone know why the sports exhaust option is not listed on the US configurator for the C4S or have I just missed it?

intheloop, it'll be me who drives the car... I tried the sports seat and they felt about right to me so I too might pass on the adaptive ones.

Haku, if it wasn't so hot here in central CA, I would've selected Cocoa for my cabby in a heart beat . Love how rich it looks!

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot George! Again, stunning baby you've got there! From that angle it looks awesome without spacers!

I ordered 5's for my baby! The 17's looked perhaps a little too big for the back. I believe someone makes an in between size- so I may opt for that if not happy with my order.I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the 5mm spacers.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Just one remark on your specs, don't shoot me.
The XRR's are really beautiful, so is seal grey, but being a colour specialist i find that the difference in colour of the GT-silver rims and the seal don't match.
The colours are not the same but too close too to make it an harmonious choice.
XRR's go better with,e.g black , basalt, red, yellow, but no other grey than GT-silver.
It may look good on the pics but in the real they fight...

Sorry, don't want to offend someone

Thank you for the comment its much appreciated and no offence taken at all.

You make a fair point. I think I will pop into my local PC and compare the colours. The combination on Matt C's car looks great though...
    Matt C's pride and joy

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

I would get Full Leather, I found the standard seats much more comfortable. I would also get the self-dim mirrors. The
other items are the same as my 2006 C4S.

To your point, you may choose the XRRs painted body color. Seal Grey wheels on a Seal Grey car look very cool, IMO.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Darn. I have these on order as well. I see your point. However, I have only seen the XRRs and the seal grey at different times, never as a combo. MMM I have only seen one okay quality picture, the one I posted above. Must find more pics

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

I'm sticking with the spec I posted and am going to go with XRR's. Dealer suggested that I should drop the short shifter as the normal shift is IHO the perfect shift distance and balance. What say you folks?

Even better news is I got a 5% discount for either picking a car from their current inventory or new order for May/June delivery. I will opt for May/June delivery due to me wanting my spec and the waiting will do me good... so my lady friend says!

Still considering whether to go for full leather...any opinions?

I will have some time to change the specs...but the order goes in tomorrow! Hooray! Let the wait begin!

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

You ought to try a Sport shift yourself before you rely on the dealer's opinion. The SS is the smoothest tranny I have ever experienced. I find it hard to believe a savy dealer would poo poo the option.

I take your point and will try for myself... until now I had only possitive remarks about the SS. The dealer also said that you've got to get the shift exactly right and that it's quite stiff/clunky...

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

I am use to the long throw of older Porsches, so I thought it felt perfect. However, I can always add that SS later. I am more concerned with the options I can't add later.

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

definitely go full leather. i didn't like it at all until i saw it in person...WOW

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

check out this pic from a previous post. Seal Grey/Xrr Seal grey painted. mmmmmmgood.

That's my car and just a little word of warning. I cannot nor can my dealer tell whether the wheels are seal grey or GT-silver.

I did order them without special painting so they should be GT-silver (according to the order guide).
Nevertheless, the color seems to match (which would mean that I got a rather costly option for free from Porsche - but that's probably as likekly as hell freezing over).

After all, I don't care what color it really is. I like them the way they are.

Below is a close-up shot of them (please no rant about the rust on the rotor and the crest not being aligned - it's been corrected, I promise) Click on attachement above to view it full-sized.

I've had my sport shifter for almost a year now, after replacing the standard shifter (which I had for 6 months). When cold, the sport shifter takes a little more effort to get into 1st gear. But when warm, it's like a hot knife through butter. I can't see how it can be any smoother. I wouldn't consider going back to the standard. So I wouldn't listen to the dealer too much.

Thanks that makes sense. Overnight I researched the issue a bit more and it's pretty much what you state. When cold its a bit notchy but after a few minutes its super smooth and also means effortless shifting with wrist alone.
I will go with RKLaw's and your experience.

Matt C, you must stop posting such yummy images !! Just a great looking car with stunning wheels

P give something away for free ??? In our dreams maybe

    Re: Newbie finalising C4S spec

Well if that is GT silver, no question here. BTW those pictures are fantastic. Used them in my decision. Don't be alarmed if you see me ripping around the alps in may/june in a car that looks just like yours!!
