    Great, Cayenne fits my garage but...

    My dealer gave me a Cayenne S to see if it fits in my garage (garage has only 180 cm height!). Perfect fit I'd say, I didn't even have to lower the air suspension.
    Unfortunately I'm not sure my dealer is making a good enough offer for my E55, so I probably stay with the E55 and forget about the Cayenne Turbo. I want it but I have to think about money too. The kids are more important now.

    I almost fell for the "S" instead of the Turbo but it really wouldn't make me happy. The Cayenne S is great and powerful but coming from a 996 Turbo RS-Tuning and a E55, I really need more power. The Cayenne Turbo would have been perfect but you can't have it all in life I guess.

    Just think about the kids.. its safer with less power

    I think you should reconsider. Surely there is a way to get a Cayenne in your garage for a longer stay.

    RC, those skinny little bicycle tires on the Cayenne, what's up with that? I thought even the standard 18" wheels with OEM 255 wide tires looked better than that.

    Just makes the argument easier for 19" or 20" wheels and wider tires on the Cayenne...

    Those 'skinny' tires look like the 18" Grandtrek WT M2 235/60 R 18's porsche n-spec snow tires? How did the 'S' feel on the road? And thanks for your and GM Austin's responses on my tire question. I'll probably order a set of these for winter tires and endure the 'shame' and derision.

    It isn't safer with less power. Imagine I want to pass a car on a country road, imagine I want to pass another car on the Autobahn where the average speed is around 140 kph (88 mph). It is much safer to have more power, this is one lesson I learned over the past 20 years. It is my responsibility how I deal with that extra power and I think I did pretty well until now. Of course I'd never let a 18 year old drive a 450 HP SUV.

    Considering your words, I should go for a Cayenne V6 then, right?

    The "S" is out of the question because I'm a power addict. I'd regret my decision a few weeks after buying it.
    If I buy a Cayenne, it has to be the Turbo. We already own a ML55, so the "S" doesn't really make sense.

    I know they don't look too good but Mad Dog is right, these are the N-spec Porsche approved Grandtrek M2 winter tires in the 235 size.
    You'd be surprised to hear that they keep up pretty good with the Cayenne's weight and handling, I really liked them and I was doing more than 125 mph with them on the Autobahn, including some wider curves. We have pretty cold winter weather now (up to -7 *C) and the tires were really very good. They might not look good but in winter time, I care more about safety than about looks.

    Gary, I could get one, no doubt about it. But I don't want to "throw away" the E55 for almost nothing and my top priority are my kids now. The money I spend now on a car is the money they (probably?) don't have later on.
    Sometimes it is necessary to set priorities. My dealer made me a good offer a while ago but now he probably thinks I badly want the Cayenne and tries to "play" me. He doesn't seem very clever doing that because I really wanted to buy a 997 Turbo after 2-3 years from him but I think he never has been the kind of person to look too far into the future.
    Everybody has his own way conducting business and this is definetely not my way.

    The chance me getting a Cayenne Turbo has dropped almost to 0% and I think I have to live with that. As I said before, you can't have it all.

    Thanks for clarifying the snow tire issue. You're right, a smaller contact patch with snow is usually better. Just take the ML430/500 or ML55 as an example of that. ML320/350 performs better than those in snow.

    RC, a Cayenne Turbo would be a great addition until you get your 997 Turbo....

    Tell that to my local Porsche dealer.
    The 997 Turbo would be the next Porsche I'll buy from him but maybe he knows that I'm a Porsche nutt and maybe he thinks that I'll buy the Cayenne Turbo or the 997 Turbo anyway, no matter how bad his offer for my E55 is.
    He's right, I am a Porsche addict but I can't print money myself. Sometimes the family comes first.

    do you not have another dealer nearby that you can use as leverage, or better yet, create a new relationship with?

    Ever heard of the Mafia? Just kidding.
    The fact is: ANY Porsche dealer who sells me a Porsche has to report the name of the customer to Porsche. It has to do with warranty, it has to do with liability, with dealer bonus, dealer commision for service and of course they want to be sure that the customer isn't a dealer who sells the car further to somebody else. Based on his contract with Porsche, my dealer has some sort of "region protection". As I'm registered at Porsche with my address, they know immediately that I'm a customer of my dealer, automatically cutting my "new" dealer's commission/service bonus and transferring it to my "old" dealer. Meaning: my new dealer earns almost nothing selling the car to me.
    When I heard for the first time of this, I thought this is impossible. But it seems that it is true and this makes me a pretty "bad" customer for other dealers. I thought about writing a complaint to Porsche about this situation and this might chance things for me but if I have to drive at least 60 km to service my car, I'm not too happy with it.
    And there is another thing: I hate to beg. If I have to beg or ask in favors, I better go for something else. Stupid pride? Maybe. But it worked well for me all the time.

    buy your Cayenne Turbo here in the US, do a European delivery, drive the car in Europe for the first year and then ship it back to the US, use it here while vacationing in Florida then trade the car for a new one and pick up the new one with a new Euro Delivery in Leipzig. The only hurdle is now your E 55, but the Porsche God is punishing his followers when they are slipping. Just be faithful from now one.

    Hi RC,

    The question may sound stupid but why can't you change dealer?

    So, once you buy a Porsche from a dealer then you're "married" until the end of your life? (just kidding).

    By the way, I know an excellent dealer in Pompano Beach (Champion Motors), South Florida and one of their sales guy is a member of the forum. He is a good friend of mine and I'll see him this weekend. So if you need something don't hesitate, he is a real Porsche enthusiast.

    On the other hand, I would definitely avoid using Braman Motors in Palm Beach, FL, the experience I had with them was a disaster on both Porsche and Audi side.

    Yes, unfortunately I actually can't change the dealer.
    I thought I explained it in my posts. I know this sounds unbelievable for somebody from the US but Germany is a bit different (thanks god it changed with some EC laws).

    Would you sell me a car if you knew that most of your commission and service money go to another dealer? I guess not.

    Right now I'm in the process to look for other options and by the end of this week (dec 15th to 21st) I'll know for sure if I get a Cayenne Turbo or not. There still is the Mercedes G55 K coming with 500 HP under the hood.

    Well still thinking about alternatives... I can tell you that the dutch importer Pon is a privately owned company and I'm pretty sure they will give you more than 5 % rebate on a Cayenne Turbo and there's also an independant high-end car dealer close to the german border which has 2 basalt black turbo's in stock. Look at: snellers they might even be interested in taking in your E55 since they are used to "grey"-importing new and slightly used exclusive cars from Germany. Both options are not 'round the corner for you but they exist!

    Thanks a lot for this info. If I don't get any results by end of this week, I might look into it.
    I pulled some strings and did some phone calls, hopefully things will change to my favor. Let's wait and see.
