997tt wheels

As I was watching the Olympics this evening, a Chevrolet commercial was playing which included the new Corvette Z06. The wheels it was sporting looked very similar in style to the 997tt. I knew I had seen them before but could not figure it out. I think Porsche should have chosen a different style, too similar to Z06. Porsche should have done a revision of the classic Fuch wheels, updated and in 19in would have been awesome.

Although the new rims are very light I still prefer the classic turbine rims.

I saw an early picture of a 997 Turbo equipped with the old "turbine" Turbo rims, it looked horrible. These rims don't go with the new 997 Turbo because the 997 Turbo has a more "nervous" design compared to the 996 Turbo. Look at the rear, even the side vents, the front...the "clean" turbine Turbo rims don't fit the 997 Turbo visually. Maybe somebody could do a photoshop job to have a visual comparison but I'm almost sure that it doesn't look good.

I tried to mark with red circles the "nervous" design spots which don't seem to go with the turbine wheels. Sorry for my amateur work and if you're a design pro, my comments may amuse you but I hope that people understand what I mean.

RC, still ordering blk painted wheels on your 997TT? I originally was planning to order blk wheels, but not sure if it works w/the new wheel design, esp its very thin-appearing rim....and I'm not a fan of the polished finish....

The rear brake caliper isn't exactly in the right spot but I'm just being picky... sorry

Yes, black painted wheels but I'm afraid I don't have any confirmation yet if this option will be possible on first cars. I may even get a launch car, so my choices are pretty limited. Hopefully my dealer and Porsche show mercy with me and get me a car specced to order but I don't know yet for sure.

I completely agree with you RC; The new 997tt needs idd other rims than the turbineshaped old ones. If the by porsche offered new rims are the best choice, i doubt... But definetly they look better then the old ones

Although nobody thought on getting the new 19" 997GT3 rims.
