    997c4s x51 = $$ 997TT

I don't really understand the Porsche's marketing strategy. A 997 4s with x51 and a few more option can cost as much as a 997TT.

Franch told me in another thread that his 997s with x51 and Pccb, slate grey, etc costed him 129.000 Euro . At this rate, a 997c4s convertible with x51, pccb, could cost more than a 997TT.

In these circumstances, who would be willing to pay turbo money for "just" a loaded 997s or 4s. It does not make any sense to me.

Not to mention that this remarks works for every P model. Why get a loaded boxster 2.7 at the price of a boxster S? Why get a caymen S at the price of a 997?

The list of options is just too long and the prices of these options are just too high. When you try to spec a 997s, it's really hard to get at the end of it without adding 10k at the price tag.

I guess it will be the same for the turbo, but still, it simply does not make sense anymore.

    Re: 997c4s x51 = $$ 997TT

There is roughly $10K of free options on the 997TT compared to the 997S.

    Re: 997c4s x51 = $$ 997TT

I was just about to order a C4S with X51. You can read about the specs. in this thread: C4S-X51 Order Specs.

However, after reading the specifications of the new 997TT that Porsche finally released today, I've reconsidered. I had never really considered the TT due to the presumed high cost but after I compared my optioned C4S with the X51 package, I decided to create a spreadsheet and see what the real numbers were.

First, I was pleasantly surprised that the base cost of the TT is $122,900. While this is significantly higher than the C4S, it comes with a host of standard features that were options on the C4S. Unfortunately, the official order guides are still not available at the Porsche dealer, but by sifting through the narrative and text found on Porsche's website regarding the TT, I was able to determine (more or less) what was being offered as standard features.

In summary, $10,000 will get you 99 more horsepower and to 60 m.p.h. in 0.70 of a second faster and an additional 154 lbs. - ft. in torque.

Below is a spreadsheet showing the differences between the two models based on the options that I originally selected for the C4S-X51.

    Re: 997c4s x51 = $$ 997TT

Welcome and thanks for the spreadsheet......nice discount on the TT....is that for real in NH?

    Re: 997c4s x51 = $$ 997TT

The problem with a loaded C4S is that all those options won't add anything to the resale value later, get the TT.

    Re: 997c4s x51 = $$ 997TT

Thank you for the spread sheet. Very informative!

The only issue is that I don't see a dealer discounting a turbo for a least 12 to 18 months.

It's very clever marketing. You finally get yourself psyched to spend some big money on a great car. So you throw in some options (some of which should already be standard features, like a good stereo, sport chrono, and sport seats) and then you realize that you're just a few bucks away from an even better car. So you find some way to rationalize that amount of spending and this goes around and around while you're test driving cars and trying to bring your wife on board and then, after a few months, guess what? You're finally buying a 997TT and you've used up some very valuable currency with your wife and the bank has you by the balls!
