2dn Track day full report! Thank you Fefe!
I'm going to visit my Ferrari mates at the France HQ.
They love the 997 and offer to wash it for free!
The full monty, some really fancy washing materials, so nice of them.
There's a special atmosphere there.
There is so much more than cars around that brand, it's the passion, the friendship between these guys. And they love all cars, really.
Two friends and clients, also there for the Saturday Tifosi coffee offer me to come to Lurcy Levis the next day (same track as last weekend).
Special tuition by Christophe Tinseau, 24 h Le Mans driver in the LM GT2 Category in a GT3RSR and Porsche consultant.
Here we go!
We leave the next day at 7am from Paris, two Stradale, one M3 and me.
No traffic, as soon as we hit the A77, it's full blast, I've never driven so fast in my life for such a long time! for over 45 minutes, the motorway was EMPTY and we drove between 200 and 250 kmh incl a nice sprint up to 290, speed at which the 997 feels supremely stable and confidence inspiring!
On the track, same as last weekend but even better, I'm building up the confidence, Tinseau tells me my main mistake is in hairpin management, I release the brake too early, understeer and crap...
I practice a lot lift off oversteer, it is so awesome to feel the car slide just by adjusting the throttle! PSM on in sport mode BTW, good to learn and you can still slide the car a bit.
I spent the whole day at mastering trail braking too to enter into very fast turns, great fun and crazy senstations.
We were quite afew cars, incl. three Stradale that drew all looks and admirations, obviously!
And that soundtrack! Amazing!
A lot of GT3, on RS and one Cup, the latter on slicks, very impressive.
The others were all on P Zero Corsa, and you could tell in the fast turns, but on the straights, I'm happy to report that the powerkit 997 doens't give away an inch.
It was Tinseau's first time with a powerkit 997. He works for Porsche BTW and now supervises the Porsche driving courses in France.
He loved and confirmed what the graph suggested. In his words, the power delivery is more linear all the way to the redline and you can really feel the added torque in the low rev too exiting hairpins, good stuff!
Any questions, please ask.
Enjoy the pics and thanks for reading!
