    How popular is Cocoa ?

Having lived in cocoa leather for two weeks now (+ GT Silver) - it has a real "feelgood" factor - fresh, classy & sporty (esp with alum trim pack). There seems to be a relatively high no. of cars shipping in this "new" leather colour ...........is this just anecdotal or is Porsche also pushing it for dealer "stock" orders ??

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

I've Cocoa and I love it. No regrets at all. Classy, bit different from black/grey (or gray), and goes well with my external colour of Atlas Grey.

Couldn't be happier in fact (although maybe I would have gone for Seal Grey exterior - not that bovvered though).

    SoS.

P.S. Where do you get a *real* beer in this place?

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

    spindar,

I was very tempted to change my order to Cocoa ( from BLK/Grey)- but was concerned that it may mess up my production/ delivery date.

I totally agree with your sentiments!

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

like the look of cocoa, how will it look with black exterior..?

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

What is the color of the car in the picture above your login name at the top of the page ??

I personally think it looks fine, but it would look better with a silver exterior variant.

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

To me it seems that popularity of Cocoa is increasing. You have to consider that it's a relative new colour, which had a quite difficult start-up as most pics don't do it justice - you have to see it in person. I talked to various dealerships in Germany and always heard the same story: prospective buyers had been reluctant to order Cocoa just based on pics - even the dealers had some doubts to order Cocoa cars for their stock. Original quote from a dealer: "I thought such a browm would not suit a Porsche - until I saw one in person - now I love it". Another quote: "I never sold one before having it on display in the showroom - then the orders started to fly in".

I totally agree with your view regarding the "feelgood-factor". First time I was sitting in a Cocoa car I just instantly felt "at home". Also the colour provides more of a "real leather" impression compared to other colours.

Goes best with silver and grey variants IMO.

Question is whether it will be a short-term fashion only or whether it would establish itself as a "classic". I had a discussion about this question with my brother who is a professional graphic designer with a strong colour-sensitiveness. He strongly supported my idea of a seal/cocoa combo, stating that these tones are becoming more popular in other design areas (architecture, fashion etc.) also and that they are something like a "recurring classic".

Seems to be true for Porsche also reminding of some popular similar combos for the 356 models of the sixties: one popular (and IMO beautiful) combo was "Slategreay/Deerbrown".

BTW: here's a goody for you slategrey fans:
You might look at a beautiful 1962 356 in slategrey (though interior not in brown, but red) at http://porsche-willich.de Click "Gebrauchtwagen", then click picture "Unsere Gebrauchtwagen" showing the list of pre-owned cars with the 356 on top of the list. No problems with residual values for this beauty (appr. 129 k Euro ) , though previous owner might have spent a fortune to keep it in pristine condition (including some technical upgrades in the engine department).

Porsche-Jeck, interesting you raise the issue of other design items in 'cocoa'. I just ordered my 997 C2S in arctic silver with cocoa interior. I really love this combination. I am comfortable with it and have grown used to it because my bedroom furniture is all in this colour combination!

I have a Hulsta Mio DC bed which is 'oak mocca' with matt aluminium finish. You can find it on this weblink: http://www.huelsta.de/

What can I say? I just love the silver/cocoa combination!

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

I think also a cream colour with cocoa might look good, although not sure about straight white? There is a 996 nearby where I live which is white, and I really like it.

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

White! A brave choice in UK and looks fantastic on the right car. But my dealer tells me he wants lots more deposit and he will slaughter me on trade-in. Worse than yellow. White with cocoa must look great.

Are you sleeping faster now ? We seem to have a similar taste (I've some Hülsta-products in my home also; I wasn't aware that they are doing business in the UK).

You're wait time maybe smoother than mine though as your bed certainly better supports some sweet dreams of your new baby (baby on four wheels, I mean)

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

On Saturday I saw a bright orange 997C2S with painted black wheels in the showroom of Porsche Centre Mayfair. Truly hideous! But the prize really has to go to the lady driving a baby pink Boxster (986). I don't think that car has ANY second hand value...

Yes, a cream colour would be great to have. For white/cocoa look at GM Austin's pic of his white/cocoa 987 (Boxster board: "Does anybody have pics of a white Boxster?") - stunning combo IMO that has been on my short-list also, but certainly better in Texas than rainy UK or Germany

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

Can I add my vote for Cocoa? I've ordered a C2S for delivery in May this year, Cocoa interior with Slate Grey exterior. For obvious reasons I'm biased, but I reckon that will be a fairly timeless colour combination - if anyone wants, I'll be happy to post some photos when I get the car.

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

Agree - resale value of white will be v low. I wimped out and went Atlas with Cocoa. Still nice combo - will be nicer when there's some sun to bring out the full subtlety of Atlas (only 4 months to go til summer). Also Atlas tends to look grubby pretty quick (and I'm not a compulsive obsessive about washing the car to be honest), which is a real downside of dark colours IMHO.

    Still happy though...

    SoS.

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

Your Slate/Cocoa baby will look absolutely awesome
Extremely rare combo, but super elegant blend IMO. Was tempted by this combo also, but with all the $$$ spent on options I felt liked a cow at the milking parlour already.
Looking forward to the pics of your beauty

I think that would be "pure orange", fantastic colur especially with the black rims
    My 2c anywho......

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

I've put a LOT of thought into what color combo I would get on a 997S, and my conclusion is Seal/Cocoa (and I believe i have good taste, naturally). Cocoa is destined to be a classic, and i just can't take another black interior. As for Seal, i love the way it contrasts with the Carerra S wheels, and i think that Arctic or even GT Silver blend too much with the rims, and are getting boring. I don't really think that atlas matches with cocoa, even though i love atlas...bottom line, if and when i order my 997, it will be Seal/Cocoa...there's a reason why this combo is featured so prominently in Porsche's 997 marketing brochures, it looks great.

I love it too... this is the only pic I have of white/cocoa..

Re: How popular is Cocoa ?

Test drive plus had a basalt black and cocoa spec. Totally loved it!!
