Of the current 911 colour range, I'll definitely back my choice of Basalt Black.
My first P Car was Moccha Black (kinda brownish black for those who don't remember), the next two were Guards Red, but since then it's been Black all the way. Difficult to maintain - yes, but well worth it. It's just so aggressive, yet understated and classy.
In a better climate I may have tried GT Silver, but in the UK it looks like a dull version of Arctic which, together with Seal, are unfortunately the ubiquitous colours here, more so I think with the Boxter, but the same applies to 911's in general terms.
I'm not averse to other colours - My first 'Sports Car' was a White Austin Healy followed by a White Lancia Fulvia. My current 'other cars' are Barbados Green (BMW 8-series) and Electric Blue (Mini Cooper S)
It is, however, my firm opinion that only three colours truly reflect the character/image of a proper Sports Car i.e. Black, Red or White. So in choosing a colour for the 911, White is out of fashion, Red is so synonymous with F Cars and that just leaves Black, which suits the 911 admirably.
I would love for some of you to attempt to persuade me otherwise.
