    F-360 M new engine confirmation

    I have now the confirmation of the dealer for the new engine and a little facelift. The car will be del. in October 2004 first for the coupé and later in spring 2005 for the spyder. The engine has no more cam belt what is very fine to reduce the maintenance cost. The engine power will be 454 hp. The facelift will be very small.

    Do you know the displacement? Since it has chains instead of belts, it's probably the engine from the Maserati (4.2L).

    This suprises me, chains inevitable lower performance, as that they weigh more. One would think that if you can afford a $160,000+ car, you can afford the belts.

    It is the modif. Maserati engine.

    Well, the new GT3 seems to rev pretty quickly with chains - and having had both, I much prefer the longevity of chains.

    It is cheaper to build a valve train with belt drive than chain drive, which is why you get belts in mass-production engines. Belts only get to be more expensive when they fail .........

    Ah, i see. I suppose the new, more powerful motors require chains. I am used to the older, belt driven ferraris, namely the 328 (who's belt has had to be replaced several times and is quite expensive)
