Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

I've only had 20 minutes in one when I test drove one a few weeks ago, but I didn't notice the car to be uncomfortable either with or without PASM on. Is it really "bone breaking"?

Or is Clarkson just entertaining again?

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

It's a sports car not the Queen' limo! I don't think the ride is bone breaking, I think Clarkson has to say eye opening things to be journalistic. If it was anything else he wopuld say it was a powder puff. I still enjoy him, but he is not the word of God. Did he recommend a bone density test (DEXA scan) be for buying one? No, so how bad could it be.

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

It's okay, it's the same thought process I was going through, and like I say I never noticed it, I was far too busy nipping through the white lines on the back roads.

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

he embellishes far too much on everything....

At one point he said the RX8 was the most phenomenal car he's ever driven....

The Veyron handles like a Lotus Elise...

The F430 is the best handling car he's ever driven...

    plenty of pish posh

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

    Res,

If you are referring to JC's review on Top Gear, he was driving the yellow -20mm with PCCB, the same one the Stig used in the Isle of Man. This is obviously a harder ride than PASM equipped versions. Perhaps you should test one for comparison purposes.

BTW - There are numerous user's reviews/opinions for -20mm here on Rennteam.

I was yes. He doesn't say, he just mentions the sport button stiffening the suspension, throttle more responsive etc so I wasn't sure.

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you know it was the -20mm option? Thanks for the info. Oh it would have been nice to see a test round the track in the dry. Even the 5th Gear review is in the wet.

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

Sorry, but the yellow one has no PCCB and no 20mm chassis is PASM equiped.

The one in the isle of man is silver

    And he is just entertaining

    Cheers

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

The only "bone breaking" ride I heard him refer to was on the 996 GT3 RS (when compared with the Ferrari 360 CS).

Just a little confused with your statement. If you download Clarkson's review of the 997, he uses bone breaking again.

    [edit]

Mind you, all the presenters on topgear use the same terms over and over again...

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

Depends what you are used to - normal mode in PASM is fine, sports i find too hard, but then UK road surface is not the best.

Driving hard on B roads i actually find normal gives better traction, sport mode firms up too much and the car 'hops' about too much for my liking.

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

The 997S which beat the AMV8 and the M6 in the Isle of Man is RX54WJK. It has -20mm sports suspension and PCCB. There's an article about it in the March 2006 GT Purely Porsche. It's done 18000 miles since January 2005 and over 40 press appointments. It has had 44 tyre changes and stone chips repaired on the bonnet. It has the original clutch from new. Arctic silver with Carrera S wheels. Enough said guys.

I may be "chided" for this but I prefer "5th Gear" over "Top Gear".

Spot on Easy - that's the one I was referring to earlier, must have had an attack of colour blindness!

I thought it was the same car JC tested, but on re-watching the video, that one IS yellow (similar plate) and does have PCCB. However it looks like it's non -20mm, but with sport chrono - sorry Res.

IMHO there are too many features on the 997 which can be referred to as sport or non-sport i.e.

PASM - normal or sport button
Sport Chrono - sport button on or off
PSE - sport button on or off

Then there's the -20mm option (sport suspension). Also Carrera or Carrera S, I presume the 'S' stands for sport?

All a bit confusing for a 'sports car'

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

Too many gadgets?? Whilst I have all of them too on my C2(S) I must say I agree. We're in danger of losing the basic essentials in a mass of sports buttons... You need to know the recipe to get the car right- Sport setting on, but PASM in non-sport-or wish I'd bought -20mm LSD with X51 - or buy a GT3

It actually stands for "super" not sport

Re: Clarkson say's the C2S has a bone breaking ride!

    So it's from this Carlos?

'The first Porsche to wear an "S" badge was the 1952 356 equipped with the 1.5-liter "Super" engine.'

You learn something new every day-thanks!
