It is probably used as a benchmark car for the development of their own products. As a design goal to make it ideally almost as fast, realistically not too ludicrously slower.

You are a courageous person I have to admit.
I have seen Nick on the track and have full confidence in him.
He played very professionally too, had 2-3 crew members surrounding him, helped him strapped in, checked his car, filled gas into his GT4CS. It is good to have spare money.

Yesterday I was in Colorado Springs (a small city 1 hour south of Denver) to help a friend look at a used Cayman S (987). After we decided that the car was not a great specimen, we decided to visit the local Porsche dealer. I was shocked and surprised to find 6 911R's (they sold 8 in total, half in PTS colors because they also sold 8 918's), a Speed Yellow Singer with 4.0L, a Yellow 918, and a Red 959 Sport (1 of 29). A bunch of other cool cars too. This dealership is the most impressive I've ever seen outside of Stuttgart and had no idea they had built it into such a great shop (it's fairly new - I think less than 10 years).
They also are one of only 3 dealers in the US that are factory certified for the Porsche Classic program (fully qualified to restore old air-cooled cars, etc.).
Congrats to those of you who have the 911R - really great car!
