I wonder why Porsche still require the tennis ball sized front sensor for the active cruise control yes I bought a VW T-Toc Design a couple of weeks back to replace our Panda 4x4 as a little run around. It has active cruise but there is no large visible sensor for the VW system which works very effectively.

I was shocked at how much equipment is standard on this car that Porsche get away with charging silly money for, considering they are both brands from the same group. It has really hit home how much buyers are gouged by Porsche. The T Roc has the following equipment as standard for a UK list price of around £21,700 -

Park assist front and rear  (£665)
    Folding door mirrors  (£210)
Active cruise control with emergency braking  (£1,557)
    Lane change assist (£488)
Auto dimming mirrors with rain sensor (£387)
    Privacy glass (£249)
    Diamond finish wheels (£1,010)
    Interior light package (£312)

The figures in brackets are the prices Porsche charge in the UK for these options on a 991.2 which comes to £4,878 heart

They do it to milk the cash cow and for customers like me...I wouldn´t order nothing of your list, so I would save over 4.000...Smiley

Auto dimming mirrors are nearly essential in the States with all the SUVs and trucks on the road.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

    Auto dimming essential?  Lol.

    Btw Blueflame - double negative.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

And I can't even get folding mirrors even if I pay them silly money..........

    Or painted brake callipers

The trucks of Kansas must have regulation headlamps that never shine into your rear view mirrors.  Auto dimming mirror help immensely with that issue and add very little weight to car.

Agreed. it's like power windows and automatic locks, something that should just be par for the course at this point. Who the hell flips a little tab on your rear-view mirror to make it darker anymore?!?

What else is nice is the gradients of dimming available so when a vehicle isn’t directly behind you, you are able to view more details, for example, is that upcoming vehicle a police car, than when you have a choice of dimmed or not with the manual version.  It makes a difference.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

I guess I’m old school. My definition of essential is a bit more basic. 😀

back to the double negative...  I mean you guys are all fantastic at English (not my First language either btw) but it was funny.

    Haha nice find!
But seriously... the third brake light looks weird... and will they really be writing "911 Carrera 4S" on the back? I guess everybody must have told their salesman: "I love my car, but people keep asking me what it is"...

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Worst 911 ever, sorry to be negative but that's how I feel. 993 was so beautiful

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

    I think it looks great

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

These pics do it more justice, unfortunately they still forgot to remove the camo from the third brake light broken heart ... another to-do fix for the 992.2

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Probably. I don't understand why they have to have a seperate third light if the whole width of the car lights up...

I will say though that the coke bottle shape is nice. Loving the fenders.

    I like it very much.

Overall design consistent with the current Porsche fleet... nothing really too progressive as expected.  The rear exhaust design and location does not look esthetically right.  Looking forward to seeing how the other variants look, particularly the Turbo, GT3 and GTS models...

Knew that exhaust design looked familiar but couldn’t place it until a few minutes ago, when one was behind a previous generation Cadillac SRX.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Well... Saw the full brochure and specs. It is IMO great 911.

Not understanding at all reenlist members hate towards new 992. What do they expect? Modern interpretation of 964?

It is 2018 after all and it won't happen.

Manual gearbox, fixed sport suspension, no servo steering, no ABS. No any kind of electronic assistance. Really??

Who will buy new car like this? Do you all 992 haters realize that this kind of "fully analogue" sports car would be actually non-legal in most countries?

If you want "analogue" 911 you can most probably with some patience find one on used market. If if one of fluent enough order a Singer.

Others will be happy with all forthcoming versions of 992.
