Help with travel plans in Europe

    Hello,
My wife and I are planning on going to the European Gran Prix in Nurburgring .
What is the best way to get from Paris to Nurburgring.
And if anybody knows what is the best Hotel to stay for that race.

    Thanks.

Re: Help with travel plans in Europe

    Pabs1,

It's just over 300 mi.. I prefer to travel by rail, time permitting ( except while in Germany ). I'm sure you'll both love seeing the countryside- very relaxing way to go. Renting a car would also be nice ( my second choice). Sorry, don't know about Hotels in the area. Porsche-Jeck lives nearby- I'm sure he would be an excellent resource. Should be great- enjoy!

Re: Help with travel plans in Europe

    here you are:
It's app 505 km from central paris to the ring.

Re: Help with travel plans in Europe

Why the GP at the nurburgring?
Is it because of the date or because of the memorable "nordschleiffe circuit"?
Please remember that the GP is being held on the new , short GP-circuit and not on the old 23km long "nordschleife"-circuit.

Re: Help with travel plans in Europe

When you happen to visit belgium on your tour( on the map on the left side of nurburg), visit brussels and don't forget bruges!
From bruges your only half an our from our home... so the door s are always open to porsche-,rennteam-friends!

Thank you very much for the invite.
Yes is because of the date, is the closest to our 25th anniversary, and we have other places that we are planning on visiting .
    Thanks.

We have our 25th anniversary next year!
    So when travelling through belgian and wanting to visit the coast or a very "chique" restaurant, give a buzz;

The same invite here , we are in the process of looking for a place to buy in the Sonoma area of Northern California and subsequently open a restaurant, My Wife and I love food , but our restaurant is going to be a Haute Cuisine Vegan/vegetarian , planning on opening it, if everything goes well on Spring/summer 07 , If you ever are going to be in the San Francisco, Sonoma area let me know and i'll tell you how are things progressing.

Something like the Green's in the Marina? If so, I would definitely pay you a visit!

Pabs1, Please keep us (me) informed on your restaurant! I'm an ex-French trained chef, and love getting up to Sonoma for some good food. My wife is a vegetarian, although I'm not, so it'll be perfect (for her)!

I'm in SF if you need any suggestions...

PM me, I'll send you my email if you start an distribution list...good luck!

Re: Help with travel plans in Europe

Do not forget to visit the Champagne area around Reims (100 miles east of Paris...and on your route). I bet your wife will love this part. If you need more info send me a pm.

Thanks for the good luck wishes.
Sorry for being an [censored] , what does PM mean ?
How can I send you my Email address ?
The restaurant I am planning is more high end than greens, more like Alain Ducasse, French Laundry , Daniels Style.
I do hope it will be successful, I will like to talk to you about reaturants and food and Porsches .

    Pabs1

Re: Help with travel plans in Europe

PM means Private Message. You can send members messages directly to keep some info off the forum for all to see.

You click on their "handle" (name) and it takes you to their membership info window, in the lower left hand corner it says "Send a Private Message"

When you recieve a PM, you'll have a little envelope above your name when you log-in.
