Weighs less, but you have a good point, probably not THAT much less. I just love the stuff: stronger than steel and amazingly light.
OTOH "Bling?" Carbon is just as bling (excessive) as leather IMHO. Carbon looks more bling though.

you can get CF parts just as good as the factory ones since
the factory ones are in many cases oem parts made by
some outsource company. not sure about this 997 case but
im pretty sure it is. look around you can definitely find one
that looks, fits, and priced better than the factory one.

That CF looks sweet. I used to think that all CF 'weave' was identical, but apparently Porsche has updated theirs to a tighter weave. (Subconsciously I thought I noticed something different btwn the look of 997 factory CF and 996 factory CF appearance, this explains it).

What you could do is get some parts covered with carbon afterwards (same way Porsche does it). If you find a skilled person/company the result is excellent and cheaper. You can see them quite often on Ebay.
