599gtb torque calculation vs 997 turbo with boost
I did a little math crunching and fizics.
Here is a little intro.
When u compare 2 cars u cant simply say mine has 700nm and yours has 500 yours is worse, The important info here i the RPM. the torque figure is the power available at a certain RPM. But when 2 cars have diferent maximum RPM speeds they have differend transmision ratios, and so the power to the wheils cant be compared directly.
To compare them u have to simulate the higher reving engine in the torque range of the lower reving engine.
how do u do this.
997 turbo has
1950-5000 Rpm 627Nm 680 with overbust
maxim Hp is at 6000 rpm whitch is 562Nm
the 599GTB has
2000-6000 623Nm
and maximum Hp is at 7600 Rpm whitch is 573Nm
to compare them u multiply the revs*(6000/7600)
and u get for 2000-6000 = 1580-4750
and the torque gats multiplyed by (7600/6000)
for 623 u get 790Nm
In other words if u put a small transmision with the ratio of (6000/7600) the Rpm drop from 7600 to 6000 and the torque gets multiplied by (7600/6000)
finaly 997 turbo
623Nm from 1950-5000
562Nm at 6000~480Hp
599Gtb
790Nm from 1580-4750
725Nm at 6000~620Hp
