GT3 Top Speed

I just read some posts on another forum regarding the top speed of the current Gt3.

One member posted an experienced top speed of 325km/h (according to the digital display) while another member claimed a top speed of 335km/h...

Very strange, can't neither believe that the GT3 is that fast nor that the speedometer is that imprecise.

Any experiences (or opinions) among the members of this board?

P.S.: I have not yet tested the full potential of my car (tt with X50), the maximum speed I did was 320 km/h (digital display).

My GT2 ran to 334 km/h on the digital speedometer where the rev limiter stopped the fun.

According to Porsche's North American brochure...

The GT3 only tops out at 150. This has to be a misprint but nonetheless it's in black in white; picked up the brochure at the SF Auto Show last week and thought maybe the car was geared differently than other countries but I don't think that's the case.

I thought top speed would be 306 km/h for both, GT3 and GT3 RS. Seems plausible for 381 hp.

Porsche's figure in their Product Information Guide actually states 191 MPH, so YES WAY.

Don't worry about the speedo reading, the GT3 top speed is limited by the rev limiter (as it is on the 996 TT too).
The "true" top speed of the GT3 should be in the 306-308 kph range. Same applies to the 996 TT, maybe even up to "true" 310-311 kph. More isn't possible because of the rev limiter.
The X50 TT has a shorter 6th gear, one reason why the top speed is practically the same as on the standard TT.
Forget about speedo accuracy. My TT showed 321 kph as top speed but the GPS measured real speed was 309 kph. Another TT I testdrove even showed 327 kph top speed but it wasn't faster than mine.
A few people I know who own the "old" GT3 had speedo readings at top speed of 318-326 kph.

To make it short: forget about speedo accuracy.

when referring to the GPS measured speed, do you mean the numbers derived using the onbord information system ("Bordcomputer")? Or are you using special equipment?

Nothing special required (maybe 100 Euros). How about this?

I'm afraid it is not that easy.

You need a GPS unit which is calibrated and which stands fixed on the dash to get a precise measurement. We used several times a Garmin Street Pilot III which works pretty well but it was pretty difficult to find somebody here in Germany to calibrate it.
