    help on exhaust choice

    hi im new to the forums. i don't know what to get. i heard fabspeed is great, but what about techart, gemballa, and ruf. are those systems any good. im looking for a great sound with great gains. please also can you post sound clips so i have an idea of the sound.

    milkee1991 welcome to the board. If you have the choice go with Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) and call it a day.

    Hello, I just have the Tubi-Style Exhaust Put onto my 997 two days ago. The exhaust is AWESOME! It is progressive and loud from the outside, but quiet from the inside. As i recalled, most of the exhaust out there are either too loud or too high pitch. If you like that nice deep growl and virtually no resonnance from the inside. I would definitely recommand tubi. I have used the Fabspeed bypass pipe before but they are way too loud and i know i lost a lot of backpressure after installing this.     What about your warrenty? Porsche will drop your engine coverage if you mess with it.

    I don't think so, not unless i chip the car. I was talking to the service manager the other day and find that my warranty will still cover most of my car except my exhaust, which he said is not necessary anyways. I also asked him when will i void the warranty of the engine, he said if i supercharge the car or chip the car. I was thinking about adding a supercharger into my 997 by Evo motorsports, but the service guys warned me about my warranty. But i am tempted to do so, since they claim to give the 997 470 hp and 0-60 4.2

    Last thing i want to add is that most people at the shop thinks that the Tubi has a better sound then the PSE.... no offends, but i think that it is all personal preference.

    Also, Tubi with Fabspeed Tips are the best combination, the tips look very nice

    I just installed the Gemballa powerkit, it's the same ones as speedart. I think it's great...at first i concern about the low torque since i live in Hong Kong lots of hills but after all, it really gives me a surprise for the power as well the sounds specially in high RPM. It's abit loud (but exceptable) but it also gives out the entertain thru out the driving.

    Thanks for the warrenty info. Sounds good. I just assumed Porsche would bail on us given the slightest chance. e.g. my dealer said suspension warrenty would be void if I changed to non-Porsche wheels . Never bothered to check further.

    Of course they want to bail us whenever they can on warranty because they know that Porsche does often create defects, and they want to fix as little of them as possible

    I am from Hong Kong too, which gemballa power kit you put onto your car?? I think with the gemballa power kit price, you can get the supercharger from evo, turn your 997 to 470 hp

    check out the system from AWE-tuning. great sound and nice power gains.

    I'm sure the systems from the other manufacturers you mentioned are all very good....it's all personal opinion and whatever you can afford. I have the 997s with full AWE exhaust, GIAC chip upgrade and EVO intake and I am very pleased. My shop just added a chip tune and EVO intake to a base 997 equipped with PSE, great sound on that car as well!....good luck!

    Silly question but does anyone know if the tips of the PSE make any difference to the sound?

    I am considering getting a retrofit PSE but keeping my current chrome exhausts tips.
