Re: Saw the AMV8 Today
Both nice cars...
I find it absolutely hilarious that the 997 is being condemned as common and sure-to-depreciate due to its high production numbers... Talk about MISSING THE POINT ENTIRELY... The whole reason Aston is producing this new car is in a desperate attempt to catch even a corner of the WAVE of enthusiasm and sales that Porsche rides on top of. Porsche's high production figures are not a result of over-supply, they are a result of incredible demand for an incredible product. $90K cars just don't get crammed onto lots like Chevy Impalas, and then sold to taxi and rental companies just to get rid of excess production capacity. It takes one hell of a memorable product to sell as many $70K-$100K 911's as Porsche does.
And as was said earlier, your exclusivity, and rarity, and long waiting lists today makes resale look great. Ten years from now, that same exclusivity, and rarity, once all the takers have taken and used and a new model is on the horizon, will whip around and bitch-slap you in the face, and then the wallet.
Sound design, performance, reliability, and enduring styling... That's what dictates resale value LONG term.
If the internet had existed 20 years ago, we could dig back in the archives and find where some misguided enthusiast was touting the long-term value of the Lagonda versus Bentley LOL!!!!!
I love the styling of the new AMV8. But too slow for that much dough, for me at least..., I don't care if it goes around corners like Mr. Toad's wild ride...
