    997 GT3 - Availability Update

We just got this in (semi-official): the 997 GT3 could be available to GERMAN customers in May 2006 already.
We don't have anything about other markets yet.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Now that would be great news. I was starting to look for an alternative for the 2006 track season...

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

    RC,

What about details about what the 997GT3 is going to be. From what I've heard it seems that the 997GT3 will be a "softer" version of the 996GT3, albeit with slightly more HP. What I mean by softer is that it will have PSM, sunroof, and more weight etc. And that the hardcore version will only be the 997GT3RS version. Somewhat different philosphy from what the 996GT3/996GT3RS.
Please advise with any details you have.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Wow, thats sooner than what I expected, thats fantastic! can't wait for the details, but if the 997GT3 improves in handling over the 996GT3 just half as much of what the 997 carrera line improved over the 996 carrela line... then ww will have a BEAST!

Bad news for us in the states, where the RS isn't available

Maybe we'll get lucky this time - we can hope anyways

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

I just got word from two very reliable sources that there will be a 997 GT3RS for the U.S. market. Expected release date to be 3/07.

    Get your deposits in ASAP.

Awesome! Any idea of price (last one would've been $120k, so maybe $127k at minimum?)

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Grant. They did't have any pricing information as of yet. I let you know as soon as i hear something.

Thx for heads-up, Amir. Any word on whether PSM/PDK will be avail on 997GT3, non-RS? If car has both, already slotted to get first car deliv'd to my dealer....in my book, an early "poor man's version" of the 430CS.....

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

great ,as I know the first car will be in italy in the end of May .

    Presentation in Geneve !

I haven't heard anything decisive yet. But I gotta tell you, I drove an Audi with DSG and I was amazed at how fast and smooth the shifts were. Dare I say better than the F1 in the Stradale and F430 as well as the SMGIII in the M5.

Pretty cool but I'm still undecided. Something about Porsches begs for a good old fashioned six speed.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

This is great news - hoping to receive one of the first UK cars.....uk prices likely to be Pounds80k..

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Order guides for the Turbo but none for the GT3 yet

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

    Hi everybody,

you can check http://www.997gt3.com for more news/info.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

    hey ,

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

See my post and link on the german porsche forum... A german dealer posts already, that the 997 turbo and 997 GT3 will be presented in May 2006.

When the car is presented at the dealer, it should be also ready to sell.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Car will be available in the UK in August same date as the Turbo. Presentation is on the 14th or 15th February, price will be Pounds78k for a standard GT3. PSM is an option. No DSG, No Sunroof.

Oh and it is on C4 chassis whilst the RS is on the C4S.
    P.

Don't the C4 and C4S share the same body?
    Thanks for the info.
PSM as an option kinds of defeat the purpose of the "Pure" sports car of the GT3 but it is a welcome addition nonetheless.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

    seems realistic ....

Porsche is testing both chassis (slim and widebody) ...so there will be 2 cars ...

It's strange that Porsche is testing 2 kinds of definitive prototypes with definitve rear bumpers to study a car ....

il u see http://www.997gt3.com/pics1.htm u can see both cars : the red one is the 997 gt3 and the black one is the Rs .

i hope that they put the psm option in both version ...i like my life ! and my wollet ! lol

That's what I thought. Makes more sense. GT3 narrow body and RS, wide body, not chassis.
A chassis is not a car's body, it's composed of all running grear such as suspension, brakes, etc. Which is why is made no sense.
    We'll see. I'm curious too!

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

I wish the new 997 GT3 looked more like the Rinspeed Indy model and less like a normal Carrera with it's currently awkward looking aerokit slapped on. The old 996 GT3 looked SO much better than the new 997 version does!

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

    lastest rumors :
OPC's are now chasing customers for letters of intent. GT3 is due to be
officially announced on 28th February. Around 140 GT3's will be destined for
    these shore through official routes.

The RS will NOT be widebodied but colours will be limited choice
Prices for the RS will be Pounds93k ish.

RS will be 1 or 2 months behind the GT3 in terms of launch, deliveries etc.

RS will not be on show at Geneva Motorshow.

    thanks to Gary .

    Thanks Sergini,
This is getting exciting! Can't wait!

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

this makes more sense. Having the widebody does not make sense. i will call my OPC to learn more.

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

New german Auto Zeitung claimes 410hp for GT3. Now, that's sounds good...

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Any thoughts on German pricing if the UK is Pounds78k - we know the UK likes paying premiums for their RHD privilige

    Re: 997 GT3 - Availability Update

Ok. The GT3 is on based on the C4 UNIBODY (if we are getting technical) whilst the RS is based on the C4S as shown on PistonHeads

The Wide body is for Homologation purposes, which is why it is on the RS.

There is no perspex screen on the RS.

    Expect 420HP.

RS will be at Paris not Geneva

    That is all.
