Mercedes SL Class Facelift

Just wondering, is the facelift for the R230 SL class coming soon?

more specifically, will it be here for Model Year 2005?

i was just offered a 2004 Car for a significant discount, but if I wait 2 months, I could have an 05 for a nominal amount more...

also, i would suspect that this facelift would be introduced for only the base model first, with 55AMG/600 facelifts coming 6-12 months later? or would the entire range be facelifted?

'05 SL55s for US go into production in June. Heard only changes are DVD-based nav system and possibly 7-speed auto transmission. The SLR/SLK nose sounds like a MY06 event. In fact, I know someone getting an Aug build '05 SL65 who very carefully confirmed that he wouldn't be getting a car w/that hideous SLK/SLR nose.....

i guess that will have a polarizing effect on opinions,

i for one like it, and if i knew that it was imminent, i would wait, i'm one of those 'gotta have the newest thing the second it comes out and not a moment later, who cares about anything older/outdated' kind of guys.

firstly, MAN This thread is OLD

- back when i was considering the SL55AMG.

as you can tell from reading my posts i went with a 2005 996 Turbo S Cab and have long since gave up on mercedes in general - no offense to any owners, just personal opinion.

i was offered 7k off, (2 months ago) i have a veryspecial relationship with the dealer.

and in retrospect that seems like a huge discount especially in the summer months, (as i was HARD pressed to get the $1000 off a 996 turbo S cab, but i eventually won

)

i understand many dealers are not discounting the SL55s at all, you would be lucky to get one for even 2~k off these days

if you are in the market for a SL55, take what i say with a grain of salt, because i have VERY close and special relationships with the dealerships i work with, and they will not likely offer anything remotely near this kind of deal to anyone else

(for exmaple, at the time i called a few other dealers, and it was a pain in the ass to even GET a discount period off the MSRP, and most only offered $500-$1000~ USD off as a goodwill. - and only then in new jersey)

the SLR's target market, no matter how much they jazz it up, will always stay the same,

it happened with the first one and it will happen again, it will be a wives car. no more, no less.

its like that article in british CAR a while ago.

'the SLK is a wonderful car, and about 80 as good as the boxster, which is saying alot, buy one, but only if you can live with the knowledge that every boxster that passes you is a better car'

Thats IF it passes you when you're in your SLK350, let alone SLK55

Thats IF it passes you when you're in your SLK350, let alone SLK55

SLK 350 and even more SLK55 may be quick, but the SLK still remains a ladies' car and the plastic look interior is just bold.
