bluelines:KresoF1:991.2 Carrera GTS models intro was originally planned for early December 2016 and was postponed for mid January 2017.
You know why it was postponed?
Heard two possible reasons:
-Porsche did not want to mess up with orders of existing 991.2 Carrera models
-change in origianally planned price tag for GTS models
Kreso,
Thanks for your input, and obviously, the non disclosure of the GTS model in Dec might induce a change in the product release for January.
I must say that I'm equally excited, as disappointed now with the coming GT3 release.
-> shape will remain exactly similar, with minor changes on front spoiler and 3d lights
-> The only differentiator would be the motor and all the improvements to be done on handling.
BUT for me the only big reason to buy in is : last NA engine for a gt3.
To register such a car in France will cost as of this year 12000 €! thanks to Mr Hollande and his nice advisors ..... so I would really like to be sure that it is worth converting my pre-order into firm order when ordering is starting.
Kreso, RC,
Any good comments to make in order to support the "yes GO FOR IT" ? :-)
997 Carrera S Triple Black Sold now ... Good car 997 GT3 triple black wow what a car !!!

Nothing new in Detroit?

Porsche skipped Detroit long ago...
Not sure what people are expecting. It's a facelifted GT3 so there wasn't going to be much novelty or innovation in terms of design inside or outside other than a few tweaks that would go unnoticed to all but the faithful. The draw is presumably the manual option and an improved engine sans the ongoing issues with the .1 engine. The potential for a wingless option may also attract new customers if Porsche believes that can be done w/o infringing on the R halo.

Well said . Judging by previous comments on this thread by well informed sources - performance wise its going to be a great package and dare I say it on a par with or better than the hallowed current GT3RS and presumably the engine won't need replacing like the 991.1 GT3.
In the 997 generation, .1 to .2 gave us the following (along with the standard enhancements to all 911s):
New front and rear bumpers
Displacement bump to 3.8L
New wheel design (center locking)
New and bigger rear wing design
New bucket seat design (the 997 GT2 buckets)
Dynamic engine mount option
PASM tuning refinements
Among others I'm overlooking
Grant:bluelines:I am trying hard to get excited. Virtually identical to and marginally quicker than its predecessor.Well, if it comes with 4.0L motor that doesn't explode into flames, a manual gearbox, and a modest price increase then that's enough for me to be excited
911 R engine with proper torquing of rod bolts in case you hit the rev limiter
All,
this beginning of year is very slow..... I was so enthusiastic about news for the first 2 weeks of'2017.....
The forum as well is in slow mode. Are you all still in vacation guys ?

I think some of the blame is on Porsche. Was expecting the 991.2 GT3 press release in 2 days (Monday), but now sounds like there may be delays
Guess we need to hear about the Carrera GTS first (which we already know all of the relevant details)...
73 Carrera RS 2.7 Carbon Fiber replica (1,890 lbs), 06 EVO9 with track mods. Former: 16 Cayman GT4, 73 911S, Two 951S's, 996 C2, 993 C2, 98 Ferrari 550, 79 635CSi
tso:I have today heard that press release is end February. No further details on the date. Price hike about 5% compared to 991.1 in this part of the world.
That would make lots of sense . Just before the presentation at Geneva , early March . And that would be in line with all previous presentations of the Gt3 .
Anyway , we all know more or less what it is going to be . Porsche never has surprises . Just look into the past, read a bit of the ' rumors ' around the forum ' , be objectif and you get the final product .

+1 Rumor is the Porsche game and he play with that ;)
997 GT3 RS 3.6 - 964 RS - 991 GT3 RS
The GTS has been announced per Porsche news for Monday the 9th. Nothing unexpected except possibly black Targa roll bar. The torque begins at 2150 instead of 1750, will have to wait on testing to see how it compares in terms of perceived lag.
