    New wheels from Porsche ?

    Carrera Sport

    Available now: order XRR

    Re: Carrera Sport

This changes the whole look of the car .............. Finally a great looking alloy wheel for the 997 , this is why those new pictures look so good of the GT3 .

    Re: Carrera Sport

I'm so sick of cleaning my 997S wheels, that I'm considering a set of steelies with moon caps!! LOL!!!!

    Re: Carrera Sport

Very nice alloys ,, will they fit my Voyager ..

    throt..

    Re: Carrera Sport

Beautiful wheels, I like them a lot. I know many of you disgaree but I am very happy with 19" wheels I have on my 997S. I think some call it the lobster claws. I think they really suit the car well.

    Re: Carrera Sport

Too many spokes. It's winter and my car looks like cr*p. last thing I want to do is fuss over brakedust.

    Re: Carrera Sport

NMD, I agree, that's the beauty of the lobster claws, easy to clean.

Truthfully, I only seem to notice it takes longer to clean my Club Coupe's Sport Design wheels when I wash that car back to back with my Boxster S which has the Turbo looks. I use a micro-fiber wash mit. Grip each spoke, one or two quick strokes and you're clean. At least there's no really tight angles and when kept waxed, the majority of the brake dust hoses right off with a little P21 S wheel cleaner.

    Re: Carrera Sport

    yeah Paul. I get it.
At least the brake dust is a thin even film, too.

    Re: Carrera Sport

    Love these wheels!

    Better get PCCB then.

Don't think that this is the correct option code.
XRR are the Carrera Sport which I have on my car:

    Re: Carrera Sport

No, the new GT3 wheels are definitely different than yours above. To me, they look very simiar to the last GT3 wheels with the 5 petals (reminiscent of the Fuchs wheels from 1967-1989 but with hollow petal-centers).

Maybe these are lighter than the last GT3 wheels (pretty heavy). Probably 19" too...

    Re: Carrera Sport

yes MAtt C ......your wheels are XRR ......

the 997 Gt3 "prototype" wheels are similar to the old 996 Gt3 mk2 ,but now are 19' and not 18' .

    Re: Carrera Sport

Didn't we agree (on a previous post) that that red GT3 was a photoshop job? I don't know where they stole the wheels from, though.

    Re: Carrera Sport

I was reading in GT magazine that the Carrera Classics are lighter than the Carrera S's. Doesn anyone know by how much? What its the lightest 19 inch wheel available for the 997?

    Re: Carrera Sport

    Carrera Classics > 8x19", 23.1 lbs / 11x19", 28.1 lbs

    lightest in mkt:
    Manthey MM2 > 9x18", 15.8 lbs / 11x18", 17.1 lbs
    Champion RG > 8x19", 19.6 lbs / 11x19", 20.4 lbs
    Kinesis comparable to Champions.

    Re: Carrera Sport

lobster claws should be just under 0.5 lbs heavier than C.Classics.

    Re: Carrera Sport

    Nice wheels.

    Re: Carrera Sport

Thanks AS. Do you know how much those wheels might cost? I imagine that they are so freakin' expensive that they are just not worth it the weight saving of 20-30 lbs, even if it is unsprung.

    Re: Carrera Sport

    Manthey MM2 are only 18" (as 997 Gt3 Cup cars). they're bl@#dy expansive... >7000euros for a set (excl. tires).
Champions & Kinesis ahould go for >us$4000 for a set (excl. tires).

    Re: Carrera Sport

I found these pics on line of the upcoming GT3. The rims definetly 'look' like the XRR option. Could you post more pictures of your 997 with the XRR rims? I personally love that look.

    Re: Carrera Sport

The red GT3 p-shopped "spy" pics' wheels look like a 19"
version of 996GT3, five double Y-spokes per wheel.

below pic is XRR - Carrera Sport Wheel, which are ten identical spokes factory painted in GT Silver, polished lip encircling. Either variant looks great, in my opinion.

See here for more pics: Click me

However, as Damian stated, the rims on the red GT3 are not the Carrera Sport.

    Re: Carrera Sport

You are right ... in the picture of the red GT3 they looked different from that angle . Looking at them from the side they do not look as good for some reason and almost look like a deferent wheel . Thanks I really thought we were seeing a new alloy wheel that would be a signature fir the 997 era like the twisters were for that era .
