Thanks. I've been going to Porsche Centre East London so far. I found Porsche Centre Mayfair very helpful too. How about you? Any advice on which dealerships are more helpful and offer better customer service? More importantly, have any dealerships been prepared to offer you a discount? If so, on both the car and options too?
I'm tempted to bring forward my order to the end of February 2006 so that I can collect it from the factory in September 2006. The weather should be far better than in March 2007 so my wife and I might be able to drive from Stuttgart to Switzerland, Italy and France before heading home to London. If I collected the car in March 2007, I think Switzerland and Northern Italy might be covered in snow.
The main reasons I was delaying were insurance and iPod connection but I can solve both now so perhaps no need to delay so long.
I've been to Porsche East London - that's by far my closest - and to Mayfair, but I've actually ordered from Tonbridge in Kent. They seemed to have more time for me and were also less busy generally. And they've got a really good train connection into town, so if I need to drop the car off it will be convenient.
Haven't heard of anywhere prepared to give a discount though....
If you don't have to delay, my advice would be not to. You've already been waiting ages and even after you order, it'll be at least six months until you have to pay anything other than the deposit anyway. The best thing about a 911 is, aside from the car itself and the tyres, running costs are amazingly low. If you're anything like me, it's a huge step into the unknown, but I don't think it'll hurt as much as the fear says it will!
I've gone for a May build / June collection and the wait is killing me. I could have had an earlier build, but held back for financial reasons and am now starting to regret it a little.
I drive an RX-8 at the moment and love it, but the 911 is just in a different league. What do you drive now?
