Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

All a matter of personal preference. I personally don't like the current bi-color interior in the 997's because the steering wheels is always black, making it really stand out. To my eyes it interupts the flow of the interior.

I have all beige interior in mine--the dash reflection in the windshield really bugged me at first. I've adapted to it--never realized how much difference a different dash could make because I never had that with the natural brown interior I had in a 996.

If that kind of thing really bugs you, then get the bi-color interior or pass on sand beige.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

Light color dashes such as sand beige, reflect light on sunny days. The light colored leather dashes are little better than the plastic but still noticeable. If you are thinking about a light color interior and live where there is a lot of sunny days, the bicolor interior (dark dash/light seats) is the way to go.

Re: Looks like work for Exclusive!

On a black car, the black dash looks like a continuation of the exterior color. I don't like the picture of the red car with the black/sand interior. Too busy. Too many colors. But with a black car it would work.

Re: Looks like work for Exclusive!

I've seen it recently and didn't like it at all.

Re: The difference between theory and practice

Agree with you Ferrari and BMW make better two tones interior... My M3

Re: The difference between theory and practice

    dg911,

    Looks very nice!

Anyone with pics of the 997 two-tone option in Blk/Grey?

Re: The difference between theory and practice

..might look even better with Black dials & floor mats.

Re: The difference between theory and practice

    2.

Agree 100%. The reflections on summer days with my '99 savanna beige dash were awful ,( everything seemed " yellow " even with polarized sunglassses ) when compared to the cashmere beige on my '90 that had a black dash .
Would definitely do this with beige or terracotta interior.Plus, an all beige interior always struck me as Lexus LS or Buick looking , if you know what I mean.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

Okay, say you're thinking you just might order the bi-color.

Now, here's a way to look at it: Your big problem is to ascertain if you're gonna have a dated-looking interior in not too long a time.

Might look cool now, but how do you predict how well that coolness will age?

Do you like stuff simple or ornamented? Look at your house or apartment. Mine is clean, crisp and some would say austere, for that reason I can't tolerate the extremely bizzy 997 interior so I got it in black.

    my two cents.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

The Bi Colored Interior was a Porsche tradition until the advent of the 996. Before that if you ordered tan, grey, or blue interior you got a black insturment panel, a black steering wheel and black door panels.

Only starting with the 996 and with some late 993 Ghetto options did Porsche start to whole heartedly emulate the interior looks from 70's Chrysler Cordobas.

Really, who would want a beige or light grey steering wheel? or the ever so reflective sand beige dash top?
Those and gauges in Pep Boys White look more like something
for a Ford Explorer than a Porsche.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

This is a nice bi-color interior , esp the subtle blue gauges :

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

yes, this blue/grey one's very nicely done.

It's too bad Porsche, a sports car maker, choses such timid interior colors ( other than eye seering terracotta ) compared to the TechArt blue here. Porsche's current blue and green and special leather grey are so ( purposely ) dark, that they might as well be black. Some of their ext colors like Midnight Blue and Atlas Grey might as well be black, too. Everyone is so concerned about resale I guess. " Order up 20 more silver/black cars for the lot , Joe ! "

Totally agree, actually I can't understand why the design of the cars' bodies is close to perfection whereas in terms of color choices (and IMO to some extent in terms of interior design in general also) it's mediocre.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

You'd think Porsche would have got it together enough by now to put Sport Chrono in there with matching dial colors.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

I finally was able to see the Two-tone leather ( Blk/Stone Grey) in a 911 yesterday- it looks outstanding- I'm definitely sold on the look. It looks much better in person-very sporty, and rich too! So awesome with Arctic Silver ( my color choice)!!!

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

SVNSVN I saw this car earlier this week at a Pennsylvania dealer, beautiful combo...remembered this thread.
Sorry the lighting stinks, I only got one pic of this - camera battery was dying....
don't know if u have seen Black/Stone grey two tone interior with Arctic in the metal, pm me with your email if u want the high-res of this.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

    Thanks a lot Damian!

Yeah, I saw it at a dealership last week- looks so great! I'm including it with my order this Tuesday... C4S Cab, Arctic Silver, Stone Grey Top, Blk/ Stone Grey Interior, X51, PCCB.....

You are going to have the best cab that is possible to have!

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

    Gnil,

Thanks a lot! Thanks for the very awesome pictures of your baby too!

I'll PM you, Porsche-Jeck and Matt, when I finalize my travel plans! It would be great to meet up.

Re: Bi-color interior - good or bad idea?

I'm lovin' the blk/beige interior! I guess, like almost every other option choice, it's just a matter of taste.
