    The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Are you a registered Rennteam user? Do you have an opinion? If so what do you think of the 997 aerokit? I must admit I loved the 993 and 996 aerokits but I'm not too sure about the 997 aerokits - they don't look as majestic as the 993/6 versions. I need some opinions!

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

I think it's a serious tracker thing (shaving off tenths thing). Or it's a kid's thing (crusing for chicks). If I got one my patricular adverse peer pressure would prove it was a big mistake.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Allow me to write something intelligent about the 997 aerokit:

    It SUCKS.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Front looks good, IMO, but the wing kills the look

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

I could live with the front end part of the kit (not sold separately of course). The rear wing does not look any better in person than in the pictures. Way too bulky looking and aftermarket look.

nice but has lousy ground clearance + even more vents for leaves/debris to get caught in

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

lol.. honestly.. iv seen a cobalt blue 997 withe aerokit.. it got soo much attention!! so much more than normal 997s.. its diffrent.. hate or love it its up to you;.. personaly.. i dont think its bad at all.. imo it looks good enough for me to consider it

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Front looks great ... the tail is hideously out of proportion . For some who are using the car to get attention the tail is a plus .

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

    No thanks I'll pass...

@ocean... did you finally do it... Techarts?

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

    Hello anti Aerokit people.

The purpose of the aerokit is to generate more downforce. It does that. In your garage it also makes a handy drinks table. Around town it adds nothing. At speed on a open road it will improve the cars handling.

The Aerokit is a good option.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

tooner I am on the wait list for 997TT did not want to go through all the different model this go round . I would love to see what the lowering and TechArt wheels is going to do for the TT . It transformed you cab into a mean looking beast imagine what they have planed for the TT . Do you have any new photos of your car , your car really is perfect example of how a 997 can be transformed with lowering and the right wheels .

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

sorry for the OT postings Gents...

@Ocean... thats going to be a sick ride, 997TT CAB on TechArts and dropped... oh man thats just sick.

No new photos except the ones my cousin took a few weeks back when it was gloomy at the office and it made the car look like it was blue-ish or like Polar Silver...

    looksey...

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

I like it, but did not order it as it is way too expensive, would have rather spent the $ on other options.

Jim, for someone who hates even minor refinement (body kits) to any stock Porsche, I find your answer perplexing to say the least.

For the record, the 997 Aerokit is the most hideous thing I have ever seen. Surely the brainchild design of the ultimate Ricer.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

I think it looks even better than the one from the 996... . But because the 993 had a totaly different shape that the 996, I wouldn't compare them.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

    Well I love it!

And that comment on ground clearance above doesnt seem to apply over here in the UK. The ground clearance is very good. I was surprised how high it was (hoped it would be lower!)

When I saw it in the flesh i was even more impressed.

My guards red Aerokitted S is here in about 10 weeks. In fact I have a pic of what it looks like carrera classics and everything....

Go on you aerokit abusers.. slag it off...

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

    Now that looks the business!!

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

The wing just looks too big for the car , looks like a prime target for vandals ..... just asking to be broken off by some one up to no good . And there it will be hanging on some guys wall in his collage dorm after he wakes up from a bad hangover.

    tooner nice avatar

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

the aerokit isnt bad at all in the metal.. and the aerokits wing isnt as bad as your making it.. it gives the car a much more sportier look.. all depends on how you want your car to look.. im all for it.. looks hot

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Sorry but I am not a fan of the aero kits and/or fix rear wing.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

O.K., I'll leave the wing for last, and comment on everything forward of the wing first:

The 996 Aero-kit was absolutely an abomination. That twisting rocker panel treatment came right off the 1991-1992 Pontiac Trans Am GTA. Goofy, to the nth degree

In comparison, the 997 aero-kit is far more crisp, with purposeful design elements, and a more serious look. I really kinda like the aero kit forward of the spoiler...

But there's your unavoidable problem, that hideous, gold-chain-crowd-loving, pointless for a street car, fast & furious laundry-rack they call a spoiler.

It doesn't matter how edgy and intriguing they make the nose and sides, it all gets overpowered by the junk on the trunk.

Going racing? Knock yourself out, if all-out performance is your goal, then there are no style rules.

Going to dinner or to work? O.K. Speed Racer, why don't you go ahead and sport some driving gloves and Carrera sun-glasses, and dress up Chim Chim as your twin, and totally commit to the "Porsche-driving-dork" image you're going after. LOL!!!!! (Just having fun...)

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

    Butt-ugly (pun intended)

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

69bossnine, I really have to agree with you completely. I love the aerokit forward the spoiler as it is a crisp serious look. However I think that everyone can agree that the spoiler is out of proportion and does not go with the car.

If money didn't count I'd get the aerokit, remove the wing and replace it with something else; maybe turbo decklid?-would that work?

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

The turbo wing is definitely an aesthetic winner compared to the aero wing. If you've GOTTA have a fixed wing to balance-out the performance of the package, I'd think that the turbo wing is far cleaner and more complimenting.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

I like the 997GT3 aerokit best. Don't like the 997 aerokit.

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Adding an aftermarket rear wing (like the GT3RS one) should be an easy fix for those so inclined. Those don't even need to be painted to match, AFAIK (all black, right?)

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

Maddad, Your car looks good!! I'm not necessarily a fan of all the the aerokits I've seen but on Red and with the classics it looks good

As has been said on here many times "Its what you like that counts.. You're the one buying the car!". And ermm.. Well.. I Am!

If I was getting it for you guys I would definitely leave off the spoiler! But hey, as I've said I'm a ricer with fast and furious tendancies (Rice wagon for sale BTW to make way for new car!)

If we all had the same tastes we'd all be driving around in Toyota Corollas (Of course mine would have a far bigger spoiler than the rest of you!! So thus would be far quicker!!!)

    Cheers

P.S. Youre all wrong. The rear spoiler is cool!

P.P.S And my friend with an Impreza said that spoilers make your car go faster. He also mentioned something about self adhesive stripes helping? Do Porsche exclusive do these?

I added stickers to my car and got a 15bhp increase!!!

    Re: The Infamous 997 Aerokit

    LOL

not to mention neon lights underneath the car... significantly improves airflow and adds several bhp. looks dead cool as well...
