Georg Plasa, fifty-one German pilot, died shortly after 14.00 today during the forty-eighth Coppa Carotti. Plasa's car, a BMW 134 V8JUDD, crashed into the mountain shortly after the fourth bend. That´s very sad. We followed the build of his racecar a few months ago.

I guess hillclimbs must be the most dangerous motorsport around, as the level of speed and safety zones are considerably more dangerous than anything else, including WRC racing. Unlike the latter, which continues over several days and stages, you have not much time to gain time that you lost at another place that easily. On top of that, the budget of most competitors is rather limited so there´d be a higher chance of a mechanical failure.
