    You mean something like this?

Ouch. Doesn't look bad but it looks 101% like tuner stuff.
I still don't understand what people expected, maybe a CGT with four seats, a huge rear wing and lots of cojones?!

The only essential thing right now is...POWER in my opinion. If Porsche fails to keep up power/performance level at par with the aggressive look, it is going to be a desaster.

I totally agree. That's also why I think the car should be able to beat the C6Z Vette. That car looks really docile compared to the Turbo, so beating it is almost mandatory. I have no doubt the 997TT will beat the Gallardo, the F430 and the M5 by a significant margin, but I sincerely hope they don't forget about ole' Chevy over in the States. Might be cheap, but it sure is fast.

    Re: 997TT in yellow

swap the side intakes on the chop above with the real thang, and THEN you've got something...

but, gee, the reality of those PLASTIC inserts that you'll be reminded by every single time you reach for the door handle is...

    ouch.

    Re: 997TT in yellow

To all those folk harping about the side intakes, there is no way on God's green earth that you can form that deep, straked opening directly in sheet metal fender without having significant thinning and hardening (and most likely tearing) of the metal. Those openings are nothing like what's on the 430 (which are practical to form in sheet steel). The only solution would be to blend a seperate piece in with filler, which has its own plusses and minuses. Porsche's solution makes technical sense as well as cost savings. Having said that, the seam does not bother me in the slightest, but we all have different tastes in cosmetics.

Are those side air ducts for real? Sorry guy's, this is same old, same old. It is a 997 with a stupid tail on it.

You know, there's not that much of a huge differnce in looks from a 360 and a 430 either

    Re: 997TT in yellow

I dont' know what to tell..but i think the look of the 997 TT is the right evolution of the 996 TT..

Before this week and this last pics i think that the 997 TT was too "normal" too "soft",instead is aggressive and i love this look..

now i need only the RIGHT power with a 5 like first number and all will be perfect...

    can't wait!!

i promise to all the world that this is my last carchoice change

Few weeks ago when I got my copy of Autweek, I think I still have that copy at the office, Their main article was on Z06. The chief engineer was saying that their bench mark car was a 996TT and by doing so they knew that they would leave Viper behind for sure.

The interesting part was that he specifically mentioned, and respect him for that, when the next version of the Porsche turbo comes out we will have a hard time catching up.

This was the jest of the article, if I find some time I'll scan it, it was a very interesting article. Still Z06 is one hell of a car for the price.

    Re: 997TT in yellow

The agressiveness of the line is really accentuated by the yellow. However I do echo everyone's sentiments that the insert ducts looks somewhat cheap.

However, if aesthetics are what you're looking for, what are you doing buying German? Nevertheless, I think its a very nice compromise of everything

    Re: 997TT in yellow

Thanks for posting the pictures. I think the Turbo looks especially nice in profile (pic 2), and if you don't like the fussy styling, just get one in black

Interesting to note that the new turn indicators in the front spoiler are now LEDs, but the remaing lights on the car looks like they are carried over from the Carrera.

It'd be great if you could find that article.

I was going to post the same comment. Picture 2 is my favorite. It shows how the rear vents behind and in front of the rear wheels work together. I'll take a 997TT in black/black please.

That's probably too low for it, don't you think?

    Re: 997TT in yellow

By the way, as has been mentioned before, isn't it time for a 997 Turbo category on this forum??

Now the only remaining question is power and performance. I have my 2005 TSCab, and want to see a big jump, in the 997TCab and/or TSCab. But you and RC can write early reviews for us.

    Re: 997TT in yellow

well, that might be a bit agressive... but i do prefer these headlight to the actual frog look!
guess only seeing it in the flesh will make the difference...

    cheers
