I'm afraid you have to live with this front because...this is it. And the strategy behind it is clear: to make the Cayman S look somehow "related" to the 911 Turbo. Considering the dumbness of some Cayman fanatics, it surely will work well for the marketing department. I already see the next sensational rumour on the Cayman Board: "Porsche 911 Turbo actually based on Cayman S...psssttt...don't tell anybody else."

To be serious: when you look at both, the 997 Turbo and Cayman S at the same time, they look completely different. So don't worry, the 997 Turbo front looks pretty good, you just have to see it live. Soon the press release will be out (hopefully this month) and you'll have the chance to see the details a little bit better.

Of course the main distinguishing feature between the 997TT and the CaymanS being that the 997TT will smoke the living c--- out of the CaymanS on the road and track.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I really like the back end shots. The tires look even wider than I expected. I agree with most that the front looks strange with the appendage fog lights. RC..since you've actually seen the car can you offer any more insight? Is it wider at the front? Do the fog lights look more integrated in person? Does everyone think the TTs is a year away?

    Thanks....

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I just can't believe this is finished.
    Is this a joke?

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I guess no matter how the 997TT looks, the car will be loved by all of us here as it will be nothing but one mean aggressive car. The kind of car that demands attention and respect of every pair of eyes staring at it. Rightfuuly so it will deserve all the attention and regards that it gets.
911 Turbo's always looked good even if the ordinary 911's did not. When the C2 came out in 1990 I thought it was the worst looking 911 ever but when the C2 Turbo came out I bought one. I loved the look. The 993TT was simply breath taking followed by the 996TT.

No joke. Voila, this is it.
What did you expect? A F430 with the Porsche badge on it?
Nobody who followed the 911 evolution can be disappointed. And for those who are disappointed, this is the wrong car.
The 911 Turbo has always been the "beast" in the sportscar world, not the beauty. I don't say that the 911 Turbo is ugly, it just isn't as stylish as the F430. As a notorious jeans-o-maniac, I like that. Armaniacs/Gucciacs/whatever may not like it. So what?!

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

OK, I shouldn't do this, but I can't help it...

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I did not know that the cayman comes in the wide body with TT engine LOL

    I can't believe it.
Well.........to each his own but I know a couple things about good lines (and good looking Pcars)......and I'll go out on a limb here and say that this will be a 'discussion point' for some time.
    I still can't believe it.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

If the front will finally look like this, than I guess some tuning companies will earn a lot of money with their aftermarket front bumpers.

The fog lights look a way to silly, and also the front light look to small IMO.
The back is very nice, but hornestly I liked the rear wing of the 996TT better.
But as already said, we must wait until porsche shows the real thing.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

    WTF?!?
This is terrible. Guys I hate to say this but this has got to be one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. (...and I thought my Cayenne S was ugly)

I can now officially say that I will be off the 997 TT waiting list. Ferrari 430 here I come...

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Porsche Designer 1: "Well, we're all done. I think our new design looks pretty cool"

Porsche Designer 2: "Oh [censored] wait, we forgot to do the foglights!"

Porsche Designer 1: "Oh yea, wait a minute. I'll get me pencil. I'll just bung 'em on the sides here, it'll look fine."

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

    I like it...

If the lower moldings (or whatever) were body colored (they're flat back in these pics) it would look better yet (and it would visually lower the car). This would be especially nice for the rear.

Remember too, the final thing always looks that bit better than even the near final pre-release pics.

Yea, that and the fact it costs Pounds50k more! Anyone who compares the cars in terms of performance is a fool.

I don't think the cars looks alike at all, they simply share the same poor design of fog lights.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I don't get why RUF can make a 997 look better than Porsche can.

They had this much time to get this right and they give us this crap?!? Wow.
Ricer back end with a Frankenstein front end... good one.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Looks like a bad mod job done by Novitec. Sales are not going to be good. Porsche better rethink this one.

I agree, the RT12 is, in my opinion, the most beautiful AND one of the meanest looking cars out there.

In reference to those 997 TT images I cannot fully say that I am disappointed. Its been a long wait and i'm sure everyone had their own mental image of what it should look like and now that its "out" its just different than we imagined. i like the back but i'm trying to figure out if i like the front. I think its going to have to grow on me for a while until the official images come out. and While i like Porsches in white/silver maybe this just isn't going to be the turbo color that looks good.

I'll have to see, i'll make up my final decision if i like it or not when it gets released and i see one in person.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Oh well, I like it (perhaps because I'm a stodgy old fool). I will definitely stay on the list. The picture does help me in color choice.

Porsche is just trying to "update" the design. Porsches have always looked wierd, especially in the 60's - that's part of the attraction.

Nahhhh, (and sorry, I'll shut up now).... but I can't even think of how to 'fix' this.

And this comes from a guy who drove his new 993 from Zuffenhausen to Strosek, and his brand new 996 straight from the dlr to the body shop.
Point is, I have no problem doing some gutsy stuff & going out on a limb......I do not know where to start with this, and quite frankly, there's nothing there that makes me want to. I'm not upset....I just can't believe it.
Well....the wife will be happy I don't need another Turbo .

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

    Dark colors only...

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

will it be wider than C4S ?

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Back looks Ok. I agree that the fog lights really do not belong. The rear has this angular theme going with the vents and then on the front it softens up too much with the repeating circles (lights and now fog lights).

The "crease" where the hood and bumper connect doesnt seem final..so maybe we will see some changes yet.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Here, i did a quick photoshop: I dropped the whole front bumper by 1-1.5" and moved the fog lights into the middle. I appologize for butchering the side where the foglight once was. What are your guys thoughts on these changes?

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

It's REAL!!!! take a look at the previous pics of the covered up TT's.... the lights on the side are there... and the rear are exactly the same- THIS GUY HAS THE FIRST PICS of the 997 TT.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Hey can one of you photoshop masters show me what the TT would look like in other colors, perhaps black or white

And also without the front plate as well?

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I agree FSU, I'd like to see dark color p'shopped.

    I like the back end,
nice ellipse-- exhaust outlets echo the spoiler.

From a totally different era, but front fog lights immediately conjured up the Ferrari GTO :

Unfortunately the GTO's indicators DO look like warts from head-on..ouch

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

Yeah, me too as I was going to order mine in white.

    Re: 997TT - New pics??

I desperately want to LOVE this car...hope(d) to buy one eventually...but i must say it looks WAY OVER STYLIZED to me... it looks like a kit-car in the back...an aftermarket job...lacks grace and elegance and fluidity...the back i prefer over the front...the front looks very low-end Japanese to me like a toyota supra or mazda or something...just an opinion from a porsche-phile...though i'm sure it'll drive spectacularly...
