    top gear magazine cayman s

top gear magazine,s write up on the cayman was totally different to what clarkson said.they drove the car againts the audi rs4 and concluded that both would be a good buy! cayman quiker through corners rs4 on straight, even as it has 4 wheel drive. plus they said brakes on cayman were excellent!

Well, I can't remember the last Porsche to have less than excellent brakes (maybe early PCCB) - they are the best. made me very suspicious of Clarkson't comments when he targeted the brakes!

Re: top gear magazine cayman s

As it happens I also feel that the brake peddle is a little soft on the Cayman - perhaps it just needs bleeding, but it's not as rock solid as I would have liked...

Of course that doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with the brakes - probably just fine...

Re: top gear magazine cayman s

It is a characteristic of Porsche post 996, all brake pedals have become very spongious! Obviously to make them more user friendly.
Not great, lacks feel, but it doesn't affect their effectiveness, you just need to really put strength when you want to brake hard.
Even the PCCB mk2's brake pedal is surprisingly soft!

I dont think what clarkson said was actually bad.. if you take away his jokes and his 'passion' comments you are left with very positive comments.

Interesting - I haven't driven anything newer than my 2002C2 and a 2004GT3 - they were both firm. Sad that they're getting worse

It's not worth IMO, just different. Indeed, more optimised for street driving and comfort rather than performance feel.
The braking power remains the same, so it's just a matter of adaptation.
