Would be really great.
Imagine a World without Chris Bangle. Utopia?
His "influence" can be seen on current and near future MBZ, Lexus, Audi product and more - so the horse is outa the barn . Besides, he didn't come up with flame surfacing - underlings did , he's just their paid " spokesmodel " , as it were. Design directors are basically PR people who haven't sat at a design console for a long time and who supposedly guide the overall visual branding direction as much as marketing will let them. Some DDs like Bangle and J Mays seem to revel in all the sniping at them because that just keeps them in the news. Others , like Chryslers Ralph Gilles , go about their biz quietly , but turn out relatively inexpensive but expressive in a chunky American way product that resonates with their intended buyer - like the 300C, Charger and the coming 2 door Challenger which are revving the aftermarket scene for American muscle at the same time that Asian " tuner " biz is fading in the US.
