The Michelins are rubbish tyres which peal around the edge after hard use. Stick with the Pirelli's

Thrashed the car on the wet this weekend (just a bit ) and the Pirellis behaved better than I thought. Michelin are still the best allrounder for though.
Chassis is sublime, inspires a lot (too much?) of confidence.
Brakes are just mental, although, compared to the GT2 mk1 I testdrove, the pedal is much less sensitive, it's not as spongeous as the 996 Turbo brake pedal which you had to press quite hard before anything happened but they've definitely made it a bit user friendly and less racy feeling.
One of my favorite options if the short shifter, it's so crisp and precise, a joy to use!
Still not pushing redline, 1500 km on the clock, but past 5000 rpm, I could swear a second engine switched on somewhere in there! Amazing!
Thanks for the kind words guys.

Three track days booked for early next year, I'll try and squeeze one in December but it's low season.

Re: 911S X51 PCCB sport chassis 1st impressions

Never had a chance to try a short shift kit.

Sounds like you having great fun !

Re: 911S X51 PCCB sport chassis 1st impressions

Congrats ! Looks like a car like I would want one (have a slate 996 4S myself)

Re: 911S X51 PCCB sport chassis 1st impressions

    Fanch,

Sounds like you're really enjoying your baby- great!
Very nice review! More pictures please!

Re: Small update, city driving with sport chassis

After seeing slate with PCCB i think i am going to call tom. am. and switch to ceramic brakes. Will pccb give me longer brake life and less dust dirtying my wheels? I am trying to justify 8000.00 option .???? CRG

Yes you are... I know because I do this every day too. I wish they would start building my car so that I can get this debate settled.

I will get mine upgraded too for this simple fact.

You can buy a lot of wheel cleaning for $8K

I love the idea of PCCB's for the weight saving if you're going to track the car. But if it's for saving on cleaning wheels $8K buys you a lot of wheel cleaning.

Re: You can buy a lot of wheel cleaning for $8K

I agree, but if you combine no brake dust, less maintenence ??,better performance??? and how great they look on slate grey( FANCH) vs the red..it makes one ponder. CRG

Re: You can buy a lot of wheel cleaning for $8K

    crg,
Just do what I did...check all boxes- makes it easy, as Porsche-Jeck said!

Seriously, for the aforementioned reasons, the PCCB was an easy decision for me. I'm certain they'll be worth the 8k.

Re: You can buy a lot of wheel cleaning for $8K

The car would look its best at all times (showroom condition) even after driving spiritedly all day long.
Instead of cleaning wheels, better be spending the time drinking wine instead.

Re: You can buy a lot of wheel cleaning for $8K

i like these photos too much to let this thread go to page 2. crg/ slate grey on order

Thanks CRG, I'll take that as a fine compliment.
I'm taking my car to the race track next weekend (weather permitting of course, at the moment, it's not looking good, too much snow but we'll see).
In any case, I promise to take loads of pics.
Trackday should be nice, will be going with a friend and his F430.
Haven't touched the car for a month now, it's about time to drive again!
