2007 MY

If I take delivery during the 2006 Fall Grand Tour( Sept 21-22, 2006 - about a month after the factory re-opens) will my baby be a 2006 model year or a 2007?

I plan to place my order next month ( C4s Cab, Arctic Silver, Grey top and 2 tone Blk/Grey interior, Full Leather,Adaptive Sport Seats, Sport Shifter, Bose, PCCB's, PSE, X-51?... - the sales manager wants to get started early as he doesn't have experience with the factory delivery.

I have done European delivery twice and the Grand Tour is only fun if you like doing things with a group of people ... I found to be off on your own more fun that the group tour bus kind of trip .

I agree. I just may go for the regular factory delivery- the group tour may not be as much fun judging from someone with prior experience ( prior post). Thanks for your reply.

Like Gnil said, 2006MY started in July 2005 (actually, it was the last week in June). But, I heard that was an exceptional thing because the S was in such demand at the time. Nevertheless, a Sept 2006 build should be a 2007 car. 2007! WOW. Maybe you can order the DSG and tell us about it.

Now, if I can only make up my mind on the X-51!

Yes, I think the MY06 started in June/ July ( just before the factory closed in August). I'm very likely looking at a Sept 21-22 delivery so it should be a MY07(I hope)- even with my very, very early order date? Or is it based on build or order date?

I wouldn't be too happy if they went to MY07 just after I took delivery.

Anyone else know how this works? Any early MY06 folks with info?

Yeah, MY07 makes it sound soooo much further away!

However the longest part of my wait is behind me.

It won't be too much longer now!

It would be nice to have the DSG option to choose from.

A july 2006 build date will start the MY2007 cars. As long as your build date is july or later you will have an 07 car. My 2006 was a july build but because of the demand they actually finished the car early in late june but still originally it was a july build an thus an MY2006. You can make sure it is a 2007 by requesting it from you dealer. Happy waiting.

SVNSVN - Are you sold on the grey top? I ask because I've seen pics here of 911s with grey tops and they really show the folds and creases.

the model changeover was early this year. as far as I know it it was the first time they produced next year cars before the factory shut down.
who knows if this pattern will continue.

Yes, if I can, I'll definitely order the X-51.

I really want it, but I don't want to extend myself either .

I hope to get a discount when I place my order- that may be the deciding factor.

Thanks a lot for your input.

I'll clarify with my dealer- hopefully he'll give me some definitive info on the model year dates before I place my order. I guess the MY06 was an anomaly due to demand and the new model.

I hear you, I've seen the pictures- I believe they may be a bit misleading ( I really hope so). I really like the Grey top-hopefully it'll workout with a little more TLC.

I figure the top will be down at least 90% of the time anyway.

Congrats! Great specs!
Your car should be a MY07, MY change is sometime in July/ August each year, don't know when exactly.
I would just think about the necessaty of PCCB, it's a very costly option and mostly made for track driving thanks to its endurance. Your car will be the heaviest of the 997 range, 4WD and cab, so its approach won't be as sporty as a coupe for example. Think about it. For the open road, the standard brakes are just fine.
I recommend X51, don't know the standard S, but I drive my new car again this weeekend and between 5000 and 7000 rpm, the engine just goes BALLISTIC! Sounds different, goes faster, now I need to find a track!
