    Is the PSE on the 997 non S good?

    I love the sound of the 997 S. The intake sound from resonator at high rpm is lovely.
    On the 997 non S the sound is not that nice. But if you fit the PSE, does it compensate not havig the H-resonator?
    Is it then as good as the standard 997S?

    Im trying to decide what car to buy!
    Whould like a 997 with the sound of the 997S!

    Sterio, I think you should just get the 997s with PSE.. you can't go wrong with that. When we're talking about the price of these cars, the extra $10K or so isn't outrageous, and it's one of the better packages where you get a little more for your money, i.e 19" wheels, red turbo brakes, the 30 extra horsepower, different trim, etc.. as opposed to paying USD $16K for X51, or USD $8K for PCCB.. I can't answer that specific question regarding the sound with certainty, but would imagine the PSE on a non-s 997 would be very close or non-distinguishable from the s version.. not sure if the larger 3.8 liter would make a difference in that aspect... let's not rack our brains, get an S!

    I agree with Old Hand. I would go for the 997S with PSE.

    Yes, if the money was not a factor I whould go for that to, but the 997S with PSE is to expensive for me. I would like to know if im gone be satisfied with the 997 only with PSE? In other case maybe a totally plain 997S.

    I did choose the S partly for the lovely exhaust sound over 5000 rpm...During the test drive, I enjoyed it a lot. After 14.500 km, I still enjoy it everyday, and I don't regret not to have gadgets like PSE and sport chrono...When I want sound and fury, my right foot and hand do the job... If there's one thing I could regret, it would be not to have choosen the -20mmchassis with LSD (limited slip differential) that I've had the chance to testdrive and that impressed me...

    What in the sport chassi was so great? What is the differece compeared to the sport mode in the PASM?

    Totally agree! Just go for the S if you can.

    Sterio, if at all possible, I would still stretch it a bit and try and buy an S. Not only for resale value, but also the fact that it's one of the more realistically priced packages that Porsche offers, meaning you get alot of stuff for the $10K extra. If it absolutely is out of the question, and you are gonna be happy with a non-S with PSE, then go for it! My feeling is that although it may make you happy in the short term, as time goes on you may have wished you just went with the sport package, i.e more POWER!

    THE SOUND OF THE NON-S WITH THE PSE IS LIKE THE S WITH PSE!!!

    ITS EXACTLY THE SAME EXHAUST


    STANDARD CARRERA with PSE sound WAY BETTER than the CARRERA S.


    ITS ALMOST IDENTICAL WITH THE S AND PSE.

    but choosing the S only for the sound is not correct IMO

    Thanks Dilinger!

    Its the Helholtz resonator intake sound in the 997 S that is so Gooood! That sound is not present when you drive the 997 non S.
    What I mean is if the PSE on the 997 non S could compensate for not having that resonator sound?
    Is there a big difference between The 997 with or without PSE?

    My friend owns 997 with PSE, 19inch wheels and Sport Chassis with LSD. It is sounding very good! Sound is almost the same as 997S with PSE! Also I like Sport Chassis for both 997/997S more than PASM but, some people find it too hard...

    A totally plain 997 S makes a lot of sense...if you love the sportiest setup (you could go with the 20 mm chassis too instead of PASM, it is a free option for the 997 S). Adding the PSE later on is no problem.
    It really depends what is more important to you, performance or options. The 997 with PSE sounds pretty similar to the 997 S with PSE but you're still missing the 30 extra horses and the newer engine generation.

    But how about the Helmuz resonator sound on the 997S?
    Do you still hear it as nice if you get the PSE?

    Wich has the nicest sound of a 997 with PSE or a reg 997S?
