Needed sunroof delete in 993 TT & 996 TT. Hit my head on sunroof frame during bumps in 964 C4. Special seat contructed for 962 - couldn't close & latch door over helmet otherwise (H-J Stuck had very weird personal seat, too). '74 911 RS/IROC was great because of racing seat being very low and no sunroof.

I'm 5'11" (1.82m), but I have very short legs and a very long torso. I find it hard to fit inside any 911 (any year) unless there is no sunroof or the seat is modified - especially with a helmet.

The seats are not actually lowered via the frame in this option. The seat cushion is thinned by 10mm.
The sunroof costs 31mm of head room. A sunroof and thinner seat padding still costs 21mm of head room!
I'm going to try the 10mm thinner seat option on my CGT because of close head-to-top issues with the standard thickness seat padding. I asked Roland Kussmaul if the seat comfort was degraded by the thinner cushion and he responded; "Maybe only a little."
It's a difficult decision for me because I don't like bumping my head while traversing lumps in the road, but I don't want to beat my butt instead. At least the CGT top has a padded liner facing my balding pate.

I can't imagine that you'd be "beating" your butt? Of course you may loose a tad bit of comfort, but are Porsches made to transport us in comfort? Maybe to some extent, but Porsche's are made to thrill the driver more so.
Anyone try the sports seats? I heard that those are better for us drivers of the taller kind.
W8MM, your getting the TT Cabrio right? You wont have to worry about headroom, even with the top up?

I have a '99 996 Cab right now (the TT Cab will replace it) and I have no trouble with headroom with the soft top or the hard top. I'm assuming the TT Cab will be the same.
