Well, considering it's less than an Aventador, I wouldn't hold it to the same standards as a hypercar, though the 918 may need some new tires to keep up with it on the track ;)

Hmm, my old Turbo S also out performs the Aventador and cost less. So what the point again?

About the only cars that can out perform my old car 0-60 are the new 991.2 Turbo S and the 918.........

...and your GT4 which outperforms them all on the track Smiley

Yeah, the new Flat-Plane V8 in the GT350 would be perfect (add turbos if necessary)

Every vid I have seen of this engine sounds loud, but not really pleasant or refined, to my ears anyways.  I guess due to the non-standard crankpin layout and therefore firing order.  Had Ford designed this engine more like say, Ferrari's flat plane V8s, it might be more suited for the GT, but then less so for the target Mustangs.

    Re: The new Ford GT

The race car is quite loud for a turbo car, but sounds very flatulent both on and off throttle.

It's far louder than the other GTE/GTLM turbo competition (Ferrari, BMW, etc.)

At idle, it retains the rumble of a cross plate V8, sounds very powerful. I also heard it running full bore down a race track, that thing is LOUD! But it actually sounds good.

At Le Mans earlier, I also heard the Ford GT running full bore, that thing is also loud, quite easily the loudest car running, the burbling from throttle lifts are even louder, but overall it feels more like noise. Not very pleasant.

Exactly, there will be plenty of time in the future to buy something that don't have a V8.

Benchmark in what way? Can't imagine a GT3 is even in the same timezone as the Ford GT when on a track.

According to the article I read, Ford used three cars to benchmark the GT. Ferrari 488, McLaren 675 and the Porsche GT3. FWIW, you have to drive a GT3 to understand why. Even the owner of McLaren stated he bought the GT3 in order to benchmark it for his cars. Yes, its that good sans the engine issues.Smiley

Depends on how u time it.Smiley

My benchmark is that the lap starts from the moment I use the key to unlock the door, get in, get strapped in and do the run then back out the car and lock it.

I don't include the time to get dressed.

By the time the ClubSport get moving, normally I am about a lap in already in the 918, if I don't use the 6 point.

Just means you have to measure it by lapping session versus a single lap!Smiley I'm sure at some point next year you'll get the chance to drive a Radical on the track (Last I talked to Rob he wanted to do a demo day similar to a ski hill). Your mind will be blown.

Since they are making so few, the price is somewhat irrelevant.  They'll sell them all and they won't get rich selling them at that price either.

They won't get rich is a fairy tale that I've been hearing for decades Smiley

I'm pretty jelly of anyone who gets one of these.

Not sure if he has any Ford GTs or Ford products, but he seems like he might have made the cut for one based on his motor sport career and other cars in his collection. Futch, you out there? You getting one of these?

    Re: The new Ford GT

It all seems a bit ironic considering the Canadian speed limits and the first car rolling off the assembly line there.

    Re: The new Ford GT

I don't know, I kind of have a bad feeling about the Ford GT. How can a manufacturer like Ford build a super sportscar basically over night without the experience and tech companies like Ferrari, Porsche and even McLaren were used to develop and use for years? I am a bit skeptical, to say at least.

I know that Ford can make nice cars but looking at my GT500 for example, I think Ford is dumb. A Mustang GT500 with slightly better quality (interior) and AWD (or at least a 21st century TC) and a modern DSG would have blown out the competition out of the water, so I'm not really a fan of Ford when it comes to sportscars.

    Re: The new Ford GT

True but maybe Ford should have used a different brand name to support the new Ford GT.  For example Ford Performance with a new logo?!
