You don't need to reply to the thread but of course you can. Especially people who may get a 997 Turbo should vote, it is very important. But keep in mind that Porsche already made a decision, you can click that 540 HP as much as you want, it won't change anything with the final decision. Just in case somebody thinks this poll may persuade Porsche to offer more power. Nope. But it may help to unveill a possible gap between customer expecations and the possible reality. Or maybe there won't be a gap, the better.
RC,
I voted for 500HP only because that is what I "expect" based on the competition from cars like the F430 and ZO6, and that is what the most legitimate rumours here and on onlyPorsche.net have suggested-onlyPorsche.net actually said 480 for the 997TT and 525 for the 997TTS, but latest "noise" from rennteam makes me think TT gets 500 (good marketing #) and TTS gets at least 525, if not more-?540.
Of course, I WISH they would go with AT LEAST 540 for the TT and 580 for the TTS-I bet there is plenty of "reserve" in the 997TT powerplant to reliably make that much HP, but of course the higher the factory HP rating, the smaller the margin for "error" in terms of reliability, and, thus, the higher the warranty coverage costs for Porsche if 997TT buyers have to more frequently have their cars serviced for warranty-covered issues during the 4-year warranty period-for example, with more power generated, it is harder to keep the engine cool-think about the Bugatti Veyron's cooling troubles. Here is an aside: I wish Porsche would offer a 997TT with a big power upgrade-like 600HP-I would be willing to buy one, even if priced higher and with a shorter warranty period, such as 2 years.
So, in reality, 500 and 525 for TT and TTS are my "guesses" as I "predicted" a few months ago.
RC, how about another poll on peak torque figures. I remember when you first hinted that the 997TT would have at least 600Nm torque as low as something like 1,500rpm, with recent rumours suggesting peak torque of 700-800Nm.
Set up a poll for peak torque, and let's see how "accurate" rennteamers are compared to the offically announced specs.!
