I cant open the video, but i just happened to meet an m6 with my 996tt in italy last weekend. we were at a traffic light together and both accelerated as best as we could and til right into 3rd gear the acceleration was exactly the same. no way the m6 pulled away.unfortunately i had to hit the brakes in 3rd. so m6 is fast, but not faster in this specific situation.

As a side note, I don't think a lot of people at the M6board were happy to see the mighty M6 being beaten at its specialty, drag racing.

We did a comparison recently.

I'm not defending BMW, but one bad thing that all the magazines tests said about the car is that it is not easy to put the car in the most powerfull mod (P500S) because it needs to enable and disable several things. In the wildest mod the M6 is a bullet and in the vid below you can see a M6 only without the speed limiter (stock power - 507 hp) and it can do easily 340km/h. In no way a stock 996TT can do that, even with X50. In the last vid it made more than 340.
M6 at 340 km/h

The vid was removed by google administrator because he claims that that vid was made on public road and they don't encourage street racing.Quote:

This is a good advertisement for a RUF 550HP conversion. I'm still mulling over doing that this winter to my 2005 996TSCab while I await the 997TT. Only problem is I'd lose the new Porsche warranty.

Since RUF is an independent manufacturer I thought they offered their own warranty?? Though possibly only on a complete RUF car....

Regarding the M6 Sport mode, I would think an owner would know how to switch modes.

I think this just proves the inaccuracy of the speedometers. The Gallardo for example, tested by Automobilismo, did 309 km/h at an indicated 331 km/h.
