    check engine lights... are they more common in US Porsches?

    Many Carrera owners in the USA note frequent illumination of the "check engine" light. Often times the fault is related to oxygen sensor codes.

    Is this more of a problem in US cars with the US emmisions requirements?

    Can some of our friends from other parts of the world (and from the US as well ) comment on their experiences with those annoying "check engine" lights?

    i for myself never had probs with it in my former gt3 but a buddy who owned exactly the same car (99` GT3) got a blinking and sometimes continious lightened check engine warning after a couple hard driven track rounds or after full speedings on the motorways. he`ve been a couple times by pursch and free services with it and they never could locate the source of this problem. as far as i know this control light is switched with tons of different sensors and the causing error can be everywhere on the engine and engine electronic.

    No problems...EVER. And I did a lot of mods on my car (996 Turbo). Maybe it really has something to do with emissions control on certain US models.
