Yeah, it is cool...when it works. 
Took me two days to figure out how to register the car to the system (the indicated method didn't work 
), sales person was of no help ("system sometimes doesn't work, just try again and again...", which of course was incorrect ).
Now that the car is registered, I can only view the steps on my iPhone (iOS app) but not in my regular internet browser (Safari). Tried with Chrome and it worked yesterday but the color and options weren't displayed correctly. Today, even Chrome doesn't work, neither does Firefox. 
Oh boy...why do they offer stuff like that if it doesn't work correctly?!

Not everyone likes the E63 S AMG, I get it.
When I showed up in the first E63 S dealer car (fully loaded, selenite grey magno matte metallic and ceramic brakes, black rims, AMG performance seats, was no Edition 1 though but looked same, etc.) at a friend's house, he was quite impressed with the car and liked it a lot.
Drove to the same friend a couple of days later in a E63 S AMG station wagon (the white one I posted photos of...) and he hated it, he actually thought it was a normal E class (which really proves how stealth such an AMG can be if configured with less "obvious" colors and options).
Also my wife told one of her friends that we ordered an E63 S AMG and all that (female) friend heard was "Mercedes E class" and she immediately asked her if she is OK with a taxi look.
When I showed that friend of hers photos of the Edition 1 car in selenite grey and with the cermaics, black rims, performance seats, etc., she loved it.
This is probably AMG's secret: Stealth or flashy, you can choose.

This would be 0-100 kph in 3.0 seconds. Achievable...with only one person in the car and almost no fuel in the tank (didn't pay attention if his tank was full or not). Most 0-100 kph values in car magazines range from 3.2 to 3.4 seconds though.
The most interesting part is though: Apparently no car has been tested on a dyno with less than 650 hp yet, some customer cars even above 680 hp. Amazing. Best 0-200 kph value (Autobild Sportscars) was 10.9 seconds as far as I remember, this is pretty impressive.
I am getting mine end of May, dealer promised a current model year car, so no particulate filter for mine.

MB is severely underrating the power on that car, seems BMW follows the same practice with the new M5.

Yes, BMW is well known for less than real life power claims.
Funny: Saw a YouTube video from a German Mercedes tuner who offers a tuning for the E63 S. His problem was: The unmodified base car from a customer already put more than 670 hp on the dyno, so...

Having second thoughts regarding the color of my ordered E63 S AMG Edition 1:
I ordered Designo Selenite Grey Magno (first pic) but I am leaning towards Designo Night Black Magno (second pic).
The matte metallic grey looks great but the matte metallic black looks a bit more special in my opinion...not sure what to do. Any opinions?

True, a friend said the same but in reality, you can get the matte grey as an aftermarket job as well, so...
I think I am going to stick to the original color (Designo Selenite Grey Magno) because it looks less aggressive and this car is going to be parked next to my business, so...

I think it's the right choice. Matte black also has the pervert effect to "cheapens" the look of the car. It's mainly due to the fact that "car tuners" and the "younger crowd" love to wrap their old golfs and audi TTs in matte black.

That matte black is a metallic matte black, not the regular matte black, I'm not sure the photo shows it's true look.
It looks very nice and not at all like aftermarket but unfortunately, new wraps are available in metallic flavor, so it is pretty easy to imitate nowadays.
"Better" photos to understand that black matte metallic color...

When I'm 60, I think about it again.
Hint: My dealer has a E63 S AMG in selenite grey (not matte) and it looks so boring.

Ah, now I get it...old school prejudice.
Don't worry, the people you are referring to are usually driving older E63 models, "fake" AMG models (S class and S class Coupe are favored in this domain because there were less "optical" differences to the real AMG models) and C 63. 
I don't want to look like a German sales rep in my car... (E class and BMW 5 series are the favorite cars in the upper sales reps class).

BTW, as we are now talking matte colors: how that works on normal use? You can't wax it, right? Given that you run it in snow/salt plus all other conditions, how do they hold up nowadays?
Friend had one of the first matte BMW colors and that turned over time a bit "blotchy", probably because of salt and grit.

I think both choices are ugly although not as bad as non matte silver or black.
Red with minor black accents would be nice, or just red with platinum wheels. A not too dark metallic blue would be nice too or something similar to agate grey with two tone platinum silver wheels.

They hold up pretty well, waxing is not OK, same goes to polishing (especially polishing is an issue).

Yep, older matte colors had issues, modern ones not anymore.
However, they seem to be a nightmare when it comes to repairs.

Not long ago? Certainly not over the past 12 months. The new E63 is a game changer in my opinion, same goes to the AMG GT R.
Also, the E63 is a family car, not my sports car.
What family car are you driving? 
Actually, the E63 wasn't even on my radar until I took a test-drive after the sales guy insisted. I had a E55 (supercharged version) before and sold this car after 6 months, was one of the most boring experiences of my driving life and I really did some (official AMG) mods on this car, like an anti-slip differential or improved gearbox shifting software.

I strongly prefer the matte grey variant and kept thinking why I dislike the matte black metallic paint... in my opinion the E-class has a lot of sculptural surfacing that needs reflections to properly work, something the lighter grey does. The matte black, even if it is metallic, will only show sufficient reflections in strong lighting conditions. Funny enough, the matte versions of these colors probably show much more of the sculptural character than their glossy counterparts, hence the matte paint looks so delicious on that model.

Yes but not that low key. AMG is OK for me, Porsche is borderline, R8 or an exotic out of the question.

Hilarious? Yes. A bit racist? Maybe.
Don't worry though: Over here in Bavaria, the kebab people usually drive BMW.
On a more serious note: AMG Mercedes cars are very popular in Duesseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg and similar cities. Mostly Kurds or Arabs, Turks usually are more into BMW.
