    New Porsche Order - Need advice! Thanks!!

    1) What is CGA (Headlight Cleaner Cvr Ex.Clr)?

    2) I have a Treo 650 GSM cell phone. What more than item 618 do I need to get it to work in the car?

    3) Which steering wheels are thicker? Do people really feel they're worth the money?

    4) Where is the PSE in the ordering guide or on the website configuration builder? Can't find its information...

    5) What do you think of the following configuration?

    Here are a few things I would reconsider:

    heated front seats. just adds weight to the car. Winter in LA is not as bad as winter in Minnesota or buffalo.

    fire extinguisher is not really necessary unless you track your car. and from my understanding, the extinguisher goes under the driver seat, and can rub against your leg if you're a tall person.

    Definitely want the PSE, sport shifter and Tire/Wheel Protection

    Looks like its going to be another winner!

    The extra thick steering wheel is option XPA. I would have gotten it myself, had it been available for order at the time.

    PSE used to be under the category of "performance" under the "options" tab. For some reason, it was removed or just missing.

    You'll love PSE, sport shifter, and sport chrono.

    618 Telephone Preparation is NOT available
    CGA the headlamp washer cover is painted in Body Color instead of chrome
    XLF Sport Exhaust System IS available.
    Fire Extinguisher 509 is out of he way tucked if front of the drivers seat. I've got one.
    Heated Front Seats 342 are great even in Los Angeles, we do get those 30* mornings on occasion. Don't leave home without them

    Get the thicker wheel is my only advice. And ditch the headlight cleaner, its useless.

    LOL!!! Your wallet probably weighs more than the gear involved in the heated front seat option!!! Weight, on that, is not worth considering.... Your CD Caselogic folder will weigh more... I love my heated seats, with the A/C cranking, to relax after a stressful day in the office.

    I never I thought I needed heated front seat in Southern California; however, after having the option, I have found that from October through February early mornings and late evenings have changed my mind. I will get this option on all future cars.

    If you want a GSM phone with sim card to work, you will need option 666. The Sim card pops into the tray and then you can use the display on the dash at it will have all the info.

    I agree with the comment on the headlight washer in exterior color--all that option does is change the headlight washer nozzle from the "chrome look" that's standard, to body color. I saw a picture some place and wasn't impressed.

    If you can wait a few days, I'm expecting delivery of my PCA Club Coupe by the end of the week and will be able to give you "my" first hand impression of the thicker sports steering wheel

    my dealer recommended against the telephone system. said his clients regretted getting it (bad speaker/mic, had to yell a lot). YMMV of course.

    RE greys: I don't see many seal greys up here in seattle. makes mine look a little distinguished.

    Was at my dealers today, and they had a slate 997 and seal CGT on the showroom floor.. The seal is my favorite (not cuz it was on a CGT), I like the slate, it's just a tad too dark grey for my personal taste. One color I want to see in person is the GT silver, the pics of that look nice.

    The thicker XPA wheel with smooth leather and leather covered airbag plate is worth the money. Apart from the PSE XPA is the option I appreciate most. It's an option you use all the time. It looks good, feels good and fits perfectly in the hands.

    If you are thinking about cobalt blue, by all means get it
    Absolutely stunning color. There are too many grey, silver and black 911's out there anyway

    Ditch the telephone prep and the fire extinguisher. I've never heard of anybody getting the latter and the former is rumored not to work well.

    why doesn't anybody get the fire extinguisher? i think it's a good deal at 140....no?

    a normal extinguisher with mount is $80 or so, right? what's another $60 to make it fit properly

    Personally I like the idea of having the fire extinguisher in there, and would order it on my next car... You're right, it's only $140 bucks! Not like you're gonna have to give up other options because of the cost.. I'd go for it

    The Option 666 GSM phone really works well, I got it and can attest to that, and the general feedback from others who have it is that it works well.

    The Porsche Cell Phone solution was a bust.. Started in the Cayennes with a factory pre-wire and dealer complete to add the correct cradle, problem there is there is no standard for phones and cradles, and the parts dept could not complete the jobs. Secondly Porsche got hauled into court for using anothers technology without their permisssion, and were ordered to stop,
    Cellport Systems, creator of a worldwide Personal Telematics patent portfolio for wireless handsets, has filed suit against Porsche North America Inc. for infringement of Cellport's proprietary technology.
    "THB Bury is not licensed to use our technology, yet Porsche is supplying their dealers with Bury's equipment in the United States," said Pat Kennedy, CEO of Cellport Systems. "In order to protect our patents and enforce our rights, we are pursuing these court actions against all four parties."

    As of today you have the choice of Option 666 GSM Phone Module or nothing at all.

    Phone module for PCM allows users with a GSM phone to insert a SIM card and use the PCM as a hands-free telephone.
