Need help with installing clear side markers

I am just guessing that changing the marker will not be a hard task and should be easily done by myself. Could any one please give me instruction on how to replace the the markers? How to remove the one on the car and how to put my new Clear Side Markers on. Thanks!

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

I asked my P dealer the other day to get me the clear side markers for my upcoming c4s. He told me that all 997's come with the clear markers.

    What's the scoop?

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

    1) Take a flat head screwdriver and wrap a thin cotton cloth around the end
    2) Pry the end of the lens up closest to the front of the car
    3) When you can get your fingers under it lift it the rest of the way pushing toward the rear of the car as you lift the lens out of its fitting.
    4) Unclip the existing socket and insert into the the new lens (the socket is held in by the metal clip)
    5) Insert the new lens into its fitting inserting the end closest to the front of the car first
    6) Snap it back into its fitting!!

Once you take it out you will see how simple the process is. It takes about 60 seconds to take it out, unhook the socket, hook the new lens up and insert it back into the fitting.

I believe all the US 997s have yellow markers. My dealer gave me clear markers for free. If you want some yellow ones I could mail them to you

Wow, it seems really simple but one question you said use a screw driver to snap the thing out from the part closest to the tip, when i look at my new marker, it seems that i should take it out from the back.. Tell me if you don't get what i mean, but are you sure i start with the end closest to the front? Also, what is the worst case senario? Can i screw up the car??? or will i just screw up the markers?

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

Read the manual please. Turn the wheels to one side for access. There is a rubber plug on the backside of the marker inside the wheel well. Remove the plug and insert a small screw driver inside to push the clip down that releases the marker. Please do not use a screw driver on the front surface of the car. The plug and access is designed to release the clip that holds the marker in place. It is all in the owner's manual.

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

Thanks i just finish the operation and it is successful! THANK you ALL! by the way, a 997 does come with a yellow markers!

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

That is the way that I removed mine and it was 100% successful. There are alot of way to skin a cat!! You can also clear bra your entire car so you don't get any chips but I didn't do that either. Either way, if you are careful, it will work.

And always when in doubt, read the owners manual. The same manual that tells you not to exceed 4200 RPM's for the first 2000 miles. And by the way, I didn't do that either!!!

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

Just for future readers, just grab the back of the lens facing wheelwell and pull. I have changed a hundred of these including this week on my new 997 Cabrio.

Re: Need help with installing clear side markers

It really is a simple procedure to change them from the ugly yellow indicators mandated in the US.

So lets see a pic of the results!
