    Getting Closer

I've just heard that my car has arrived in the UK So just the short journey from port to dealer, a day or so for them to prepare it and it will finally be mine, 11 months after placing the original order

I've booked next Friday off to hopefully pick it up and get to know her. I'm sitting here (grinning a lot) typing this and thinking on one hand nobody out there is that bothered but also knowing that you've all been in the same position as me and know what it feels like.

Anybody got any good ideas what to do with the next 6 days?

    Re: Getting Closer

If you're trading something in against the P, get a written valuation from them before the delivery day. This saves hassle on the day.

    Re: Getting Closer

Yep wtsnet, following your helpful comments some weeks ago I have done just that - got a verbal confirmation first and nagged them for a written one on a Porsche letterhead.

Insurance is done too (Pounds770 from Bell Direct which was much cheaper than most quotes I had and have seen on here), just the final part of the wait to go....

    Re: Getting Closer

I thought about what I was going to do when I picked mine up two days ago.

    Like:

1- What CD to listen to.
2- What route for the first drive.
    3- What to wear!
4- Who to visit first... etc.

This is my first Porsche and I was very nervous... Within the first minute after leaving the dealer (deal done... mine!), the car fit me like a glove and I was more comfortable than I've ever felt in any car. Period! Cloths, music, route... nothing mattered except this was my car and it was gonna get to know me very well.

My advice? Don't play with any of the electronics like nav, radio, etc. Only wipers if raining or lights if dark and with PSE on, drive that thing like the awesome machine it is. There'll be plenty time to fool with gadgetry.

    Re: Getting Closer

    Nick,

That insurance sounds cheap. What is that based on?? (NCB, age, where its parked, etc..)

I am still waiting. I put my Pounds3000 deposit down in November (2004).. I pay my final 10% before the end of this month. And the car is due March 1st. (Earlist I was offered delivery was October, but I preferred to wait till the winter was gone!!)

Guess that makes me the longest waiting person on here! When you wait this long, the number of times you change your mind on colour is just stupid!!

    Cheers,

    Re: Getting Closer

Take a drug to sleep for 6 days, and dream of driving the p....

When you wake up , you'll notice that dreams are"nt cheats, but reality can even be a lot better

    rrrrr

    Re: Getting Closer

nick ,, good luck next Friday with a smooth delivery .. What to do for the next 6 days ?? ,, well get the camera ready for all those pics ..

    Congrats..

    Re: Getting Closer

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I hate you.

Obviously just kidding, I'm still waiting for the production date here.

Hope all goes well. Make sure to take a picture of your face while it still looks as it used to. You won't be able to take one without that stupid looking grin once you've gotten the car.

    Madadd,
I am not sure whether you would win that contest about the longest wait for your new ride. I have opted for a March delivery exactly for the same reason (ugly winter wheather).
Also I can feel where you are coming from regarding the colour decision - or change of decision - during the long wait (see my post "coming home" in the Boxster-board).
Good luck during your wait !

Congratulations to you then, you know exacly how I feel now. Good advice on the gadjets thanks. I plan to take a CD along to make sure the player is ok as others here have had problems. After that test I shall be listening only to the flat 6

11 years NCB, garaged overnight, home counties. Me and wife to drive (34 and 29), 10,000 miles per year. I had a few quotes around Pounds880 - Pounds950, must were well over Pounds1000. I bit their hand off when I got the quote back from Bell.

I too put my deposit down in November 2004 and originally planned for delivery after the winter - the sensible option. I couldn't resist though... Enjoy the wait. I know what you mean about the colour indecision. I only decided finally between AS and SG on the day when there were examples of each on the dealers forecourt and SG looked just great in the sunshine.

Thanks Throt. I know the rules on here about photos, I'm hoping to surprise my dad on Friday and get him to take a few shots, a far better photographer than me. Once there done they'll be posted
