Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

We're picking it up tomorrow at 3:30 P.M. The dealer sent us more pics to tide us over...

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

why did you get an auto?

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

    It's my Mom's car. I guess you didn't read part 1.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

whats with the striations on the carpets??

For some reason, the dealer thinks it looks cool or conveys a clean look. I will be removing the "skunk" effect at delivery.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

    nice colour combo!

I've noticed that on others as well. Beautiful car by the way!

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

Awesome!! Your Mom has class. Use it in good health

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

Awesome 911! I love that color combo. Your mother has fine taste indeed.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

Lapis is my least favorite blue but this car is really beautiful. I love the Sport Design's and the interior is really special

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

    Very nice!
Q:> "Why did you get an auto?"
A:> Why did YOU get a standard?
How about, "because I lost my left leg in Iraq!"
Or, "I have better things to do with my legs, arms and hands!"
I'm so tired of people disparaging the auto. I say, mind your own business and get what the hell you want and shut up already!

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

Did you post this on rennlist too? I could sware that is cobalt. I know you say its lapis, guess my eyesight is getting worse.

    Anyway nice never the less,
    Kurt

    Amen dweiser! Well said!

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

The Sport Design's are very nice- seem to look especially great on Blue and Red P's!

A very sweet baby! Congratulations and enjoy!

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

I am glad I also ordered the same color and the same wheels. My Carrera S will be delivered in November. I chose Lapis because it was the closest to Iris Blue of my current 993 Carrera.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

Love that color combo! The rims go great with that deep blue. Actually today I saw the same color here in SF CA. but with stone gray interior and I like your combo better. BTW, when the sun hits those flakes the car color will really come to life! Congratulations to your mother for her choice in colors! How did the dealer do the skunk thing? Vacume or lawn mower?

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

very classy for a woman!!! congrads !!! enojoy in good health!!!!

how does this effect on carpet is made??? and how is it removed?

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

I completely agree with DWeiser - once the car was born a 997, no explanation necessary to give it the full credit such a machine is due whether or not it comes equipped with a Tip. Beautiful looking car. I assume you purchased in Houston but live in Austin. If so, the Texas hill country around Austin and road towards Fredricksburg is amazing in the fall - for a spirited drive.

Is that Sand Beige or Natural Tan?

I just think the TipTronic is a complete waste of $3,000+ dollars that could be put into other things, like towards a sports exhaust.....

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

How did the pick up go? Is your Mom thrilled?

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

I'm not sure how "Why did you get a Tip" can be seen as a criticism. BTW AJ, it's really a difference of $6800. It costs $3400 more when you buy it and it's worth $3400 less when you sell it.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

That's the first application of wood to a 911 interior that I absolutely love. Very tasteful, right colors complimenting, and not too much. Stunning...

Hey, my mom is 63 and wouldn't drive an automatic sports car if you gave it to her, and paid her weekly to drive it. She abhors autos, and drives a 350Z 6-speed with NISMO shifter and stainless exhaust!!

I think the problem with most female automatic-only drivers is that their folks never took the initiative to teach the gals how to drive a stick when they were 15. IMHO, it's the only way to teach a new driver how to drive, as it forces them to pay attention and learn, rather than just aim and shoot and yack-yack-yack. My stepdaughter is getting a manual for her first car, whether she wants it or not. Once she buys her first car for herself, then she's free to get whatever floats her boat.

    But I digress. Beautiful car!!!

It's not rocket-science Dilinger, it's just running the vacuum nozzle one direction, and then back the opposite direction, creating stripes. Just like how the golf-course mowers make stripes in the grass.....

Put the small floor attachment on your shop-vac, and you can go out into your garage and stripe-up your carpet to your heart's delight!!

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

Very nice, I love the wheels, if I had not gotten the lobster claws, these would have been the wheels as my 2nd choice. Very pretty combo, congrat to you mom.

I am a 32 year old female and this is my first stick. I wanted a stick for my first car, but my Dad (who drives 6 speed) was worried that I would get sick of it (he did the same with my brother). Anyways, 16 years later, I've got my stick shift and love it (also, this time around Dad encouraged the stick shift). I agree with you about how it requires you to pay more attention and focus on driving. I've said to my husband that I think starting a kid out on a stick shift car is a great idea and if we ever have a child, I think that's what I'd do.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

69bossnine, you are right, that goes for males and females, I learned to drive with stick. If you don't most probably you will get used to the auto and will not care for sick so much. In my opinion true car entusiasts crave the stick shift and that's how they wish to learn how to drive.

Re: Part 2: 911 is here (PICS)

I have an aunt that's in her late 50's, she drives a '01 Boxster, manual trans. She lives in Camarillo and works in Los Angeles. Talk about working stop-n-go traffic!

She says she loves the car and enjoys the manual tranny.
