The only negative about the R8 V10 Plus and the Huracan is to look at them and know that their glorious sounding, razor edge response NA engines are the end of a era... and know that whats coming next will likely seem synthetic by comparison.
Conny997:Cool vid. But the car design don't mirrors really my taste
Agreed. I only like the red painted engine and the red painted calipers but everything else is...how to put it...a matter of taste. I'm not a Final Fantasy fan, so I'm probably not the target customer for this car. In Japan, it costs 431k EUR. Ouch.

Another fun fact regarding the Dynamic Steering of the R8 V10 Plus: As you know, reviewers weren't really on the same page when it came to the Dynamic Steering of the car. Some loved it, others hated it. I love it.
Well, it seems that when you drive in Performance mode (not Dynamic mode, which I drive in most of the time, basically the same as Sport mode in Porsche models), the Dynamic Steering sticks to a 13:1 fixed ratio, there is nothing dynamic about it anymore. So when drivers complained about it, it seems that either they were driving it in a fixed ratio they didn't like or they drove it with a variable ratio they didn't like...or did like or whatever. It is just weird that none of the reviewers actually mentioned this fact (with the fixed ratio).

Having said that, the rant was about RC, not the R8. Noone started it. I blame him.

The biggest Audi Dealer in my area has 12 ! barely used R8 V10 Plus standing around. 11 are driving experience cars. Most have a list price of 229k reduced to 161-167k 1500-1800km.
These cars are standing for 3 months now and not a single one has been sold.
The DE cars look a bit too flashy in my view (white with red blades and grey with yellow blades). People seems to know that they are DE cars and dont want to buy them. I also would not like to buy a DE car.
One of the cars is not a DE car. Reduced from 221k to 158k but unattractive exterior/interior color. Dark gray outside with brown interior. More a color combination for a A8 or Bentley, but not for a car like the R8.
daily: BMW 430d
for fun: Porsche Boxster GTS
Yes, the 24h Experience cars flood the used car pools of the dealers, which in my opinion isn't a good thing.
Btw: None of the 24h experience cars is over 215k MSRP but what is worse about them: They were built in summer/autumn 2015(!) but potential customers aren't aware of it because of the low mileage and the first registration which is mostly in 2016(!). 90% of the used R8 in Germany are 24h experience cars.
I was lucky to find a used car which was an April 2016 build but even my car has been used on the track by the general manager of the dealership (I know him from his past at Porsche). I still trust him more than various strangers driving the 24h experience cars at the limit and this was also the reason I got the good deal I got.
Most cars have a five years warranty though, so if someone wants an inexpensive super sportscar, these cars are actually a good offer. My car has 10500 km now, over 8000 driven by me and no real issues.
I still wouldn't buy one in Germany (just lease) because Audi kind of ruins the used car value with those many 24h experience cars. They should be gone by next summer though.

You just need to check the German Audi website (used cars) and you find tons of used (2nd gen) R8 V10 Plus, starting at around 140k EUR or so...

Depends what tires the car had and in what driving program the driver was driving in (apparently the differences can be dramatic). I still think the time is OK though, the 650S is definitely a bit faster on the track, especially on semi-slicks (even if the Audi would be on Cup 2).

(long term review, pretty interesting)
From the review: "Just to give you some history, this time last year I tested the McLaren 570S in Portugal against the Audi R8 and Porsche 911 Turbo. I gave the win to the 570S because it was the best to drive. And it still is. But this demonstrates the trouble with road testing as opposed to living with a car for an extended period, and that’s what the 570GT helped me with this time round. Because if I was presented with a straight choice between the two, I’d have the R8."
More: " Ultimately the McLaren is as fast, but it can’t hold a candle to the noise, response and sheer visceral thrill of the Audi’s V10. It’s the one thing I relish every single day. And it’s so usable because of the R8’s traction, stability and short gearing. Motorway on-ramps, quick squirts off roundabouts, the opportunities to indulge the V10 are always there.
Even slow burbles away from traffic lights take on another dimension in the R8 – it sounds great, the gearbox is peerless and there’s a curious satisfaction in feeling it shuffle up to sixth at 27mph.
And it’s not just the engine. The calm ride, the cabin design, the B&O sound system, the impressively tight turning circle, the seats, the humming smoothness of the thing, the sense it’ll never go wrong, the vast speed it’s capable of, the hard-charger that lurks a couple of button presses away…
They all contribute to making the R8 at once super undemanding and yet massively exciting. It hits a broader spectrum than any rival, whether it’s McLaren 570, Porsche 911 Turbo, Mercedes AMG GT or Nissan GT-R."

Your updates on the R8 have convinced me to move away from my long awaited Acura NSX to a new R8. Even with a special order, I will have my Audi, well before I hear a whimper from Honda. Looking forward to the return to Audi.
