    Differing shades of silver on different parts of the car

    Have a look at the photo below which I took at the IAA recently:

    Why do the front boot lid and front bumper sometimes look a different shade from the rest of the body in photos? Is it because one is aluminium, the other plastic but the rest is steel??

    I'm intrigued why it should be so visible in photos but not so in real life??

    I believe it is because the bumpers are painted and supplied from elsewhere and assembled to already-painted the chassis.

    There ARE variations but it IS a gross oversight to see them in a "show car" like above.

    I believe AS shows this problem most. Some cars have it others are lucky and don't

    There is also a difference in "live".
    On pics you don't get the exact effect though.
    Look at the rear hip on the pic , there you can also see a big diffrence in colour.
    As a headgardenarchitect i can tell you that a colour changes everytime you put it under anoather lightsource...

    BUT: all recent p's have a differnce in colour on their bumpers...

    That's a variation in the reflexion, look how it continues on the rear lid.

    Could the different shades just be bad quality image rendering from the camera or the spotlights are in certain directions and cause different shades?

    Hey Guys! Whatever it is: it suuuuucks. I remember checking my car for this exact problem when I picked it up. Luckily it was fine.

    ANY perceivable difference in ANY lighting condition is NOT befitting any conception of "Porsche Excellence."

    Now you're funny. How can a paint kill the varying reflections?
    There's a friggin' banner reflecting in the paint, thus making it look like it has different shades.
