Yeah, I'll have to agree that its a pretty useless thread...

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

so we've established the info is sparse... anyone have further details?

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

there is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO news about a 'maybe' CS

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

I think it's way too early for a F430 CS. Even if Ferrari wanted to build it already now, they simply don't have the capacity. Their production is booked out with Berlinetta and Spider, there's a minimum wait of 18 months, so I guess we will see the CS in the second half of the F430's lifespan, when the demand for that model slowly goes down.

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

nope I'm betting on a 2006 relise either Geneva or Paris

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

For the 360 the cs was a tottaly new concept, and I am thinking now that they ve seen the demand for the cs, they are sure to present it earlier.

Couldnt it sher a production line withe the Berlinetta

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

UK dealers are taking deposits on cars and saying it will be available in 18 mths

Heard rumors that CS will come out either '06/early '07, essentially supplanting the Coupe for more performance-focused buyers....seems logical as CS would be far more profitable to F than selling mere Coupes light on options (like most of ones seen in flip mkt)....and F has compressed the time gap btwn launch of Coupe and the more profitable Spider in 430 vs 360...

Capacity will be a delicate balancing act, w/600 and Enzo 2.0 rumored to be on-way in similar time frame.....but assuming fixed capacity, wouldn't a profit-focused co. rather build $250K+ cars than use any limited capacity for base 430 Coupes?.....

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

I hope the 430CS will come with the option of a 6 speed manual gearbox (unlike 360CS)...

Sounds about right. That's what I said here a couple of months ago. Do need time though for the 430 Challenge cars to replace the 360 Challenge cars and race. Wouldn't make sense to release a 430 Challenge Stradale before the 430 Challenge cars are performing. For me that timing would be perfect actually w/ the 430 CS coming about a year after I'll get the 430 coupe. I'm thinking then the 430 CS would be the car I would then keep. But I thought that about my 360 CS too and when the 430 CS is realeased info. about the 430 successer will be around. Wonder what that car will be called ? F510 ?

Probably but then how would they be able to market all the goodies of the 430 CS based on racing experience ? The 360 CS was based on the 360 Challenge cars. The 430 Challenge Stradale (STREET/street legal) components will be based on the 430 Challenge (RACE) car. But first the 430 Challenge car has to be out and race for a while in order for that sales pitch (street version) to work.

Not gonna happen. Would be totally counter-productive Marketing/Performance wise.

If nothing else, the F guys are brilliant marketers, selling cars that look cool/sound cool/feel faster and lighter than they actually are: great smoke & mirrors.... ...the racing stuff is a great marketing side-circus; it's debatable how the tech really transfers to street car development....

Also, suspect 90%+ of 430CS buyers don't know/don't really care about the specifics of racing stuff; the F brand and how "racy" the car looks/drives in amateur hands will sell the 430CS produc many times over....

18 months would mean a presentation of the F430 CS in the second half of the F430 lifespan.

    Amen!

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

The Challenge Stradalle it's a "end of life version"...... same thing with the Gransport from Maserati.

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

Just got back from MotorCars (Ferrari) of Greenwich.
Was looking at a 430 coupe next to a couple of Spider's.

Did you know about the difference in stance ?

The Spider sits about a half inch higher then the coupe. I could get three fingers (one on top of the other) between the Spiders tire and fender. With the coupe could barely get in two. I first noticed the difference looking at how high the rocker panel behind the front wheel was from the ground and then realized the space difference in tire to wheel well.

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

Strad, is the Coupe vs Spider ht difference explainable by nl settling of suspension and/or nl variances? Were these all cars w/delivery miles and delivered to dealer at roughly same time, etc?

No, the springs/shocks on the Spider are taller and softer.

    Thx for clarifying, Grant.

Would be interesting to see how much of an N-ring time diffce there is btwn 430Coupe and Spider....wonder how much these ht, spring&shock differences cost in objective performance and subjective feel....

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

I think the Coupe would be substantially faster because of the suspension, but also because it's:

    1. lighter
    2. stiffer chassis
    3. more aerodynamic at high speeds

    Re: 430 Cs at 'Ring?

Grant, totally agree w/your logic. Can't recall if N-ring times for 997S Coupe vs Cab have been posted anywhere....curious how much the performance delta btwn Coupe vs Cab has been reduced in latest F and P's....

I don't think the difference would be huge nor even noticeable unless you're driving on the track or very hard on the street.

If you intend to drive this car on the track, then I would really suggest the Coupe for its greater safety as well as its better driving dynamics.

If it's just for the street (and you aren't the sort of driver who really rips it up in the canyons/mountains) and you're an open-car fan then the Spider will be more fun for you, sound better, and have better resale.

    ... given the Californian weather.
