    AMV8 did the SportAuto Supertest ...

    ... and was capable to do the Nurburgring Nordschleife in something like 8.05 minutes ... equipped with Pirelli Corsa Sport Tyres ... with standard Bridgestone it took 10 seconds longer ... not bad at all !!???

    8:15 with 380HP on normal tires (R-compuend Corsa's lap times don't count)... not bad for an AM like Mike says

    Matches the corvette C6 that has 20HP more, and the Vette had the Z-51 sport suspension option on top of it.

    But close to the 2 seater Cayman that has 85HP less, and significantly slower (10secs) than the 997S that has 25HP less... that puts it in perspective vs. Porsche in the performance handling department, as they were advertising the AMV8 since the beginning as the Porsche 911 rival in performance...

    I thought the AMV8 would come a little closer to 8:00 with regular tires, but that's not too bad of a time. You guys were right about AM though. I suspect that part of it is their reluctance to alienate prior customers.

    My father is questioning taking delivery of the AMV8. It had nothing to do with this article, but it's becoming obvious that this isn't as focused as one could hope. Basically he would be paying for the looks and style of the car, but a big questions remains, whether or not it will feel like a sports car. Ultimate speed is not really a huge concern for him, but he could save $30k and get a 911S and have more fun.

    Fun factor is most important. We'll see...

    Fun factor 911S with out a doubt. Exclusivity and looks factor AMV8.

    Yes... As a drivers car, there is no contest. The 911S is a better sports car. For exclusivity and comfort(interior,ride harshness(??)), the AM is the better car.
    On the looks department, I personally think the Carrera S is the better looking car, but most will say the AM is more beautiful.

    i just spec'd mines at the dealer an hour ago. friggin total came out to 157k cad. expecting delivery in early spring.

    BTW, did you deal with Grand Touring Autos in Toronto? I'm across Lake Ontario in Rochester, NY.

    I'm number 45 on the AMV8 waiting list at Grand Touring. Expecting delivery early-mid 2007. I'm curious, were you able to negotiate any discount on the AMV8? Also, did you deal with Fred or Sean? Thanks.

    Congrats on the excellent purchase. I have almost decided to go for one. What color did youn choose? What options and what was the cost of each? How negotiable are they on the overall cost or is it strictly MSRP.
