The comments on the handling derive from the magazine critics that HAVE already driven it, and report the same numb and uncommunicative steering that already exists in the standard C6 (which I've already driven, and the steering and chassis communication absolutely blows). The handling is said to be otherworldly, but at the expense of real-world liveability, i.e. harsh. And if I know Chevy, and I have owned and DO own a ton of 'em, if the suspension is choppy and hard, the rest of the car will rattle like a chuckwagon within 20K miles. Which is fine, after all, whadaya want for a measely $65 grand??
I'll give it its due, it's a remarkable performer, it gets the job done. But price is RELATIVE to the ENTIRE PACKAGE. We're discussing it as a total car, not just a stat sheet.
Without driving it, my opinion is thus:
Incredible performance
Wanker styling
Chevy interior
Great buy
Nice for a toy, probably a bit too hard-core for a driver
Seeing that YOU have yet to drive the car, once you get it and put a few thou on the odometer, come back and give us some comments that have context. My prediction, given the cars you list such as the Boxster and the Ferrari, that you'll be overjoyed with the athletic ability, and underwhelmed by the intangibles that your other cars have in spades. Chevy doesn't even attempt that level of art in engineering, or craftsmanship, which is why they don't have to charge for it.

It's been funny to see the wanna be Ferrari guys buy ZO6's to flip for profit. Wonder what happened ? I'm already seeing guys trying to unload for $1- 3$k over and the car hasn't shipped yet. I thought they would bring like $10k over for a while. Maybe I'll get one if they'll sell for a few thousand under sticker.
Never will get "defensive". I like them all. Ferrari, Porsche etc. I like the ZO6. Great deal. Cheap even. The fastest cheap quality car in the world.

These types of "performance on the cheap" debates always wind up degrading and degrading to absolutely silly-out-of-context comparisons, to the point where I just throw down the gauntlet, and let everyone know that I can build a rusty old AMC Gremlin using a crate motor, mini-tubs, 4-link and wheelie-bars, with a $15K budget, ugly as sin, that will absolutely blow the paint job off of any and all of the cars being argued about.
Which usually illustrates perfectly the apples-to-oranges nonsense inherent in such debates.

The corvette has WAY tooooo much stuff going on. Curves, straight lines, creases, centerlines, trendy "pointy triangles.," I find the useless vent hole next to the badge especially messed up; is that the nose of some sort of snake? I guess there was some focus group need to make it look like an aggressive reptile (to make Viper fans get a rise?). Very bad design, too many elements in there. Silly-looking, like a kids toy.

I agree the styling isn't Ferrari but the car looks pretty cool imo. Especially in person. I could only imagine the changes that differentiate the ZO6 vs. the standard Vette are going to make standard Vette owners green w/ envy. The flared out panels, the wheels (which I like a lot) and huge tires. That 427 motor- Whew !! 997 vs. ZO6 the Porsche is the clear winner imo but if you only had $65k to work with and wanted a serious sports car would you buy anything else ? If so what ? I can't think of anything.
