    Bentley Continental GT

Next week I will test this sports car.
What do you think about it ?

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

Well, I don't think it's a sports car for one It is a beautiful and fast highway cruiser though...

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

There are a lot of them here in Palm Beach and environs. I like the front, it looks a little "chunky" around the C-pillar and aft. It's really a fast luxury GT rather than a sports car as Grant said. I think it looks better in lighter metallic colors rather than black which I see frequently.

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

OK, maybe it's not a pure sports car but anyone has test it ?
I like the 4 seats, 4 WD and power in straigh line.

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

I had one last year for about 8 months, awesome car but too old for me! Was as quick as my SL55 on acceleration! don't under estimate that heavy behemoth! It really goes!

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

I had a SL55 just before the M3 CSL (more funny then SL).
The SL was tuned (more then 320 km/h verified),.
Beautifull car but only 2 seat and to much weight in track use (Monza track is 15 km far from me).
Incredible acceleration (5 gear insert at 270 km/h) and torque, not so good breakes (Porsche is the best).
Conti seems heavvier but more confortable.
I'll go to try, then I'll decide.
Waiting time for 997 TTS it's too much for me, so I'd like a "good" car for this period, having 4 seats, and avoid a waste of money (selling the SL was a disaster)
I'm sure that in a track I will lose from a 997 (only if the track isn't Indianapolis) but I don't see any other solution.
    Any suggest ?

    Bye

you need to feel the SL65's brakes, those are way better than my 997's!

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

Have you thought of a Fearrai 612? It has practically the same rear seat room, handles better and can be had with a manual transmission.

It will do Monza much better than the Bentley.

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

Mike: in normal use, SL breakes was perfect, in track use (Monza) after 2 round appear on cockpit the advise " breakes problem, go to the dealer for a check" or something similar.
After 10 minutes You can restart for a new round but the signal remains.
And having that signal on while you drive in Monza isn't good for ypur performance

Jim: 612 is beautifull but, I prefer the Continental look and the 4 wd (sometimes I go to mountain street with my family ...)
There's also a quite difference in price (more then 46.000 taking the F1 option). Too much for a "transition car".

You may think they feel better but the Porsche stops in a shorter distance according to every magazine I've seen that tests these things. Porsche is the best of any car.

    Re: Bentley Continental GT

true, but what counts more, the actual feel of it or the actual numbers?

That depends if you are driving for enjoyment or trying to stop before hitting a large object

And keep in mind MikeS that the brakes don't stop the car, the tires do. The brakes only stop the wheels from turning. Anyone who's ever driven on an icy road understands the difference very well. Do you have icy roads in your neck of the woods?

What exactly do you mean its to old for you, Mike. To old as in it came out a couple of years ago or cause its more suited for older buyers??
